How much do D.O's make when compared to M.D's in similar specialities?

....i mean if it is just for the M.D tag, I wouldnt have even bothered applying to M.D schools.
So why did I? because everyone else seemed to project the M.D image to be worth more than the D.O in many respects and I went along with the crowd.

And that makes me raise this question: what is different between them? (Not in theory please...but in practice)

1. Less Money?
2. Less Acceptance in Hospitals?
3. Harder to do private practice?
4. ????

...please bear in mind that I am relatively new to this country and quite possibly ignorant of some aspects of the health care system in the USA

Difference between MD and DO salary?

Physicians are hired as tradesman for the job of physician or surgeon, the degree qualifies you for the job but isn’t the job itself. Having said that, there is no discrepancy in salary between and MD and a DO, however it is debatable whether DOs or MDs make more money when self employed. When you are hired at a hospital as a board certified physician, you will make the salary they promise you. The degree you earned in medical school is irrelevant. What IS relevent is what you are board certified in.

Does the pay of a teacher with a B.S. in Education and a B.A. in Education differ?

NO.

1)is it compulsory for D.O's to take the COMLEX or is it an either or between the COMLEX and the USMLE?

and 2) any stats on the percentage of Osteopathic Medical students that attempted the USMLE and got placement for MD residency?

1. You must take the COMLEX in order to graduate.

2. A higher percentage of DO's are placed in MD residencies that take the USMLE than do not. This is due to the fact that a number of MD residencies do not accept the COMLEX.
