I have heard from several people that daily reading can of things like the NYT and The Economist can help improve VR scores. I try to read the NYT everyday for several years now and usually try to read The New Yorker pretty regularly. Does anyone have any thoughts on this supplemental strategy to doing well on VR?

If you've always read those publications, keep with them. Reading only helps when one is far away from the test date. When you get within 3 months, you should be doing practice problems in favor of reading for verbal improvement. Again, if reading them is part of your daily routine, there's no reason to quit.

When you're done reading an article try writing down or thinking about these things:

1. Main idea of article
2. Author's opinion
3. If there were MCAT questions following this article, what would they look like?
4. If you had to come up with the answer choices to the above questions, how would you trick people into picking a wrong choice?
