What does AMCAS count as overall UG GPA?

I went to a University on trimester system for a year....(got mostly B's and C's)
Then attended Community College for 1 1/2 yrs....(got mostly A's and B's)
Then I got married and moved to another state, so had to do 1/2 a year again (since not everything transferred over) (got mostly A's and B's)

Then I went to a great University and graduated with a 3.5 GPA

I am now doing my post-bacc in pre-medical sciences....hoping to maintain a 4.0 in this area........

I'm not too happy about my first time away from home....I had graduated high school a year early, and was only 17, and was so lost and confused, I didn't focus on school at all.......

Will they just take my last GPA from my Undergrad, or add them all together??

For better or worse, the AMCAS counts *everything* that you've ever taken with equal weight. Kind of a bummer, especially for those of us who were used to grade replacement of forgiveness on classes that were re-taken at our individual universities, but there it is. No amount of time will make something disappear, nor will switching schools (believe me, I wish there were amnesty on some of my 20 year old grades!). Bottom line, do the best with what you are working on now. Luckily you don't have any F's or D's to try to cancel out with getting good grades now! Just do the best you can, and explain the improvement in your GPA in your personal statement. Oh yeah...and do really well on the MCAT. It won't replace a low or average GPA, but really doing outstanding can show that you really know your stuff and can apply it to the test. Good luck, and just do your best! Many of us have dealt with the same situation (or worse!) and been successful. :luck:

If I remember correctly, AMCAS counts everything in your UG GPA until you're officially enrolled in a degree-granting graduate program. My first semester in grad school had a few UG courses that were eligible for graduate credit, and if I remember correctly, they counted toward my graduate GPA. The work you've mentioned prior to your post-bacc, however, is all UG and it's all going to go in your UG GPA. I assume your post-bacc will go in your UG GPA, too, if you're not going to receive a Special Masters - but I have no experience in that area.
