I am shadowing a surgical service for 24 hours and am not sure if I am supposed to take anything with me. I will be able to use one of their call rooms.

Here are the items I am considering stuffing in my backpack:
toothbrush
change of shoes/socks
study materials (...finals)

Is there anything else I should consider...or should I not take anything?

Just curious, why not wait til after finals?

Just don't take anything that you would be devastated to lose. In general, many people have access to the call rooms, and sometimes the access codes are even written in obvious places outside the doors. Don't assume that your belongings are completely safe.

you probably don't need much. a toothbrush is good. if the hospital you're at is anything like the one i shadowed in, they should have disposable stuff in the call rooms (hand/face soap, baby lotion, floss, etc). when i shadowed in the hospital, the only things i brought with me were my cell phone and an ipod.

i'm not sure if you'll have time to study your books. if the service is busy, you'll probably just fall asleep at night rather than stay up to read.

good luck with shadowing. it'll be a fun experience 🙂
