Hey all,
I'm not having too much trouble in organic yet, but I would really like to get ahold of some practice problems (naming alkenes, mechanisms, standard nomenclature, etc etc) and was wondering if the OWL Organic Chemistry online work was a good investment? It costs 70 bucks and that is money I don't want to spend if it doesn't have a good amount of practice for me to do. Any of you guys used OWL for practice with organic? If you guys have any other recommendations feel free to share

OWL was actually surprisingly good. Most online homework systems are really bad (like OWL for Gen. Chem) but I really feel like OWL really helped me in Orgo.

If you have the extra money I would say it isn't a bad investment.

I thought OWL was a very useful tool for Organic Chemistry. I'd say it is worth it.

How is this not a Harry Potter thread....

I received an E (Exceeds Expectations) on my organic OWL but I'm a bit worried about the organic NEWT 🙁

Are there any similarly helpful online quizzes/tests/explanations for general chem?

Never used but if it's anything like "MasteringChemistry" or "MasteringPhysics" then I wouldn't buy it.

very helpful (but sometimes annoying because we had required hw for points on it...!)

Thanks for the replies everybody. I think I will go ahead and pick it up. It has alot of example problems? Because OWL isn't required for my class so I won't have any homework assigned through it. But if it still provides practice then I will go ahead and pick it up! Thanks!

Yes, its lots of practice, i was just trying to be funny...:/

I never even read the book.

Trying too hard 😛

I think your time would be better spent reading the Ochem section of an MCAT prep book.
