That's awesome! Props Bonnie, you deserve this!

ShuMed, I'm not going to tell them they're my first choice (they're not right now), but for now I will include some points about what I like about the school. If they become my 1st, I'll fire off another letter.

man, i didn't get any mail today...and i live near washington heights. maybe they sent decisions out alphabetically...a-l on tuesday, m-z on wednesday. my last name begins with 'r'. let the overanalysis begin!
 
yikes. i'm scared to go home. if there's no letter i think i'll go nuts.

just got home. no letter. i don't know what to do with myself..+pissed+

I must say if you got your letter today in Alaska it doesn't bode too well for NYC dwellers like me with empty mailboxes.

Yea I did a search on his posts and it did seem like he got into U of Washington, but why would he post about giving up the spot on the P&S thread???

It'll actually be really odd to take only one day for mail delivery from NYC to Alaska (Even with Priority mail; now UPS or FedEx overnight's another story)

He got into Columbia last year and defered to reapply to UWashington this year.

When I got my P & S acceptance 2 years ago, it was a thick, priority mail, white envelope. I deferred that year because I wasn't ready, emotionally or financially, to move to NYC from Alaska, and start medical school. I then deferred for a second year when I realized that I really, really preferred to go to UW (where I had been watilisted before, but the UW WWAMI waitlists rarely move at all). In granting a deferral, P & S does not make you sign anything saying you will not apply to other schools in the interim, as most schools do.

Thank-you. Mail from Seattle to Alaska is super fast, so I wouldn't get discouraged.

And just to clear things up a bit, as I 've had to do repeatedly over my years on SDN (drat my initials), I'm a she, not a he.

So, it sounds like the only acceptance (or any news) through SDN is from bonnie. I spoke to the office today and they said that the committee still has some of the applications and all letters should go out by the end of this week. Sounds like they are still making last minute decisions.

Nobody in Alaska got anything from Columbia today!
 
😕 Interesting. I heard that all decisions had already been made as of yesterday, and the office was just rushing to make sure all the letters got out by the end of today. Ehh, I love how sources of info are so non-uniform in this process.
 
lol ... same here, absolutezero. i got so frazzled from reading this thread that i couldn't even take a much-needed nap ... but yet somehow i cannot turn off my computer ....

yes, it comes in priority mail package ... it's big, it will be obvious.

it is, quite possibly, the nicest worded acceptance letter i could think of.

one of my other girlfriends got it today as well, she received it in long island/queen.

Damn! The next 10 hours (until the mail comes) are going to be lots of fun. Reminds me of the night before mcat scores came back.

Dammit. Nothing came in the mail today. It's better than a rejection I suppose, but I'm spazzing out hardcore. And now I see that the one who's gotten in had an hour long interview, while mine was half that, and the interviewer did everything but grab me by the shirt and toss me out of the room. 🙁 🙁 🙁

Is there any med school that accepts a SMALLER percentage of those interviewed than does columbia?? Which I think is like 25%
 
I know duke is right in that range about 22-24% acceptance.
