Hi everyone,

Basically what the title says. The intern job market is completely saturated where I am and I was unsuccessful in finding summer internships due to my lack of connections back home. I'm going out of state (back to CA) during my 4th year and I was wondering, is there anything I can do during my 4th year rotations to make myself more competitive when applying for jobs after graduation?

Thanks in advance!

If you are planning on applying to residencies, then try to make sure you get other experience (research, leadership activities, professional organizations, etc) to help compensate for your lack of work experience. If you are planning on applying for jobs right after graduation, then you need some type of work experience to make yourself a good candidate. If paid internships are not available, try volunteering at a local hospital to get some type of experience in a pharmacy.

Clean the break room tables at your rotations

Haha! Don't worry, the quality of my education doesn't exempt me from cleaning break room tables or any other table my preceptors want me to clean.

I'm at a CA school and from what I've heard students are having a really hard time landing paid internships here as well (on top of getting jobs when they graduate). You're going to be competing with students from CA schools. If you want to do a residency then your rotations will be important and it's probably ok you don't have a paid internship. If you want to do retail in CA...I dunno...good luck.

Same here as a P2 the NYC area. It is pretty saturated here as well... I'm going to ask and beg to volunteer at a hospital this summer and hope they say yes.
