Just wondering, what are the typical P4 tuition increases at your school and how many rotations you do.

Ours is about 11k more and we do 8 rotations. I find this completely unreasonable and did not know this until I entered this school (they don't say in letters of acceptance the tuition for a P4, just the U1-U2 and the professional differential once you actually enter pharmacy school.

Also, is there any way to raise this issue to the school and request an audit of where this 11k goes to? I think it's a completely unjustifiable amount for 2 extra rotations and is a huge difference between what I expected to pay upon entering this school and what I will pay. Obviously I'm not going anywhere, but I think it's a shady business practice. Yes, it is 10 extra credits, but it still brings the amount of credits to 40, which should be within the regular tuition range (max is 20 per semester).

My school doesn't have a P4 increase, however we do have to pay tuition for the summer semester. So it costs more for the year, but it's the same rate as all the other years. I'd complain but at $10K/yr I think I'm still getting a bargain.

Yeah our P4 comes out to 43k. Subtract the 7k "merit grant" that everyone gets for not failing out and you get 36k.

43K for tuition only??😱 What money do you live on?

You must go to USP, the Cosa Nostra of Pharmacy Schools....

Tuition is an extra $500/semester during P4 year. We start July 1st, but pay for August-May, i.e. just 2 semesters. We all complain about the price increase, but administration just seems to avoid the topic.

We pay an extra $300 or so for the entire p4 year where i go to school, what ticks me off is that $70 is for a drug test. It costs $70 for somebody to put a sticker on a urine cup and then dip a piece of color changing paper into it?

I imagine you would know by now where I go. Any suggestions on how to get students to stop being sheep of the school and actually speak out that this is quite ridiculous without pissing off the whole world of pharmacy?
And does evferyone with 1-2k extra do 8 5-week rotations as well, or just 6? No one seems to be answering that.

Here no one complains to the administration, they just take it the way it is. I spoke to my roommate today and he tried to justify the increase. Imagine that.

At my school, tuition is $10,120.00/year for all four years. Rotations are 160 hours/month and typically 4 weeks each. There are 9 rotations during the P4 year (July-November and January-April with none during December)

The total cost of attendance though, is:
  • P1 - $10,443.60
  • P2 - $10,508.60
  • P3 - $10,613.60
  • P4 - $10,646.50

our school pulled one over on us 4th year too, which is why I don't give and won't ever give any alumni donations. They got an extra unexpected 5K from me my 4th year. Our tuition was around 15K IIRC.

That is so depressing. I am paying nearly that much in tuition for *one year*.

With tuition and living costs, I will pay, in one year, more than you spent on tuition over four years.

At my school, the living costs are on our own, since it is not something we have to pay at registration. If we choose on campus housing, it is done through the university and not through the college of pharmacy.

I'd much rather provide my own living expenses. On campus housing+food is over 11k. One can find very cheap apartments in Philly, so I pay slightly over half of that for housing/food. If I were still living on campus, I would have to pay an insane amt. of money.

On campus housing here ranges from $460 per month to $725 per month. It covers utilities, which is nice. The most common cost seems to be $585 per month, or about $5,300 per year.

Around here, the only part of town I would consider is west little rock, but those apartments can be expensive for a pharmacy student. So, those of us living close to here choose to live at home and commute.

I usually spend anywhere from $4 ~ $7.50 for lunch in the cafeteria, so I would estimate that to cost $3,000 ~ $5,500 per year if I ate every meal in the cafeteria. So the cost of campus housing with food could be $8,300 ~ $10,800 per year.
