It really is a broad range and it depends on geography as well as your specialty/setting.
I wasn't aware that PA's work in Anesthesiology. What would their role be in it?

very few pa's deliver operative anesthesia(maybe 25 in the entire country who got training back in the 70's through specialty residencies that no longer exist).
most pa's working in anesthesia do pre-op and post-op eveluations. some do interventional pain in a group with docs.
Yep, here at Mayo, we have several PA's working with Anesthesia in the Pain Clinic.
Why anyone would want to do that to themselves, I'll never know...

well they have AA (anesthesiologist assistants) which are like PAs for anesthesiologists. It is a specific field/school you have to go into for it as well.

Yep, here at Mayo, we have several PA's working with Anesthesia in the Pain Clinic.

depends on specialty and location.
new grad in surgery in major metro area can make that yr 1.
you can work 20 yrs in primary care in some locations and never make more than 80.

What if u specialize in cardiovascular? cant u then start out with close to 90 + ?
Also, How can u go about specializing? Is it additional few years after 2 yrs of PA program?

specializing can be done either through on the job training or through an optional formal 1-2 yr pa residency(see www.appap.org)

+ loan repayment....if I was single I would be there or a small er somewhere in the NE.
there are locums gigs up there that pay very well also...I have a friend who does 2 weeks once/yr...for 7k+free housing and in state flights(and snowmobile transit...)...not bad for 2 weeks work.....

I'm talking about starting salaries for students fresh out of PA school and board-certified and licensed....
Also is the job market saturated-hard to get jobs? need to take a pay cut? I'm asking about the Milwaukee-Chicago-Indianapolis area?
