Ok, I don't know too much about Radiology, so this may sound like a silly question to most of u, so excuse my ignorance. I've been looking at a lot of programs on scutwork.com, and I keep reading "they dont have PACS""They will be gettin PACS soon", etc. It appears to me that this PACS thing is apparently very important to prospective residents. Can someone please tell me what exactly PACS is? Thanks in advance

Picture Archiving and Communications Systems

Digitized radiology imagery (ergo, no hard-copy films, and therefore no films to be lost/misplaced/stolen). This allows multiple viewers in different locations to view the same film, to have easy access to old films for comparison, and for 3-D imaging of structures imaged with a multi-detector scanner, among many, many other uses.
