Hi,

I'm 25, a psychology undergraduate student from Pakistan. I've been wondering if clinical psychology PhD holders from Pakistan are eligible for post-doctoral fellowship programs abroad (in UK/USA/Australia) ?? Apparently, most foreign post-doc fellowships / residency programs require APA or BPS accredited doctorate degrees, but what if I don't have one? What do I do with my Pakistani doctorate if I relocate to UK / USA etc ?

You may have to check with programs to see about their admission requirements. You would not be eligible for postdocs in the VA system or any other federal institution since they require US citizenship as well as APA accredited degrees.

it's doubtful you would be able to practice in the US, as there are substantial differences in training. In order to practice you would need to prove to the licensing board you took the equivalent training (similarly named course titles, 3 years of clinical training, etc). I have never seen this done from another country other than canada.

If you decide to get a doctorate in Pakistan and relocate to the US, you would be doing yourself a disservice. There is an overabundance of PhDs in psychology currently. Teaching is unlikely. Professorship is very very very unlikely. Practicing is unlikely.
