Check to see how your program teaches these. If they do the full PALS course with all the lectures, you'll need less review ahead of time and some people might not study at all prior (but learn all your drug doses!). For our NRP training, they had us do the online modules prior to class (which took some people a few hours), and the class didn't involve any lectures, it was all basically just skills testing/mega code and the written test, so that if you didn't walk in the door already very familiar with the material there would be essentially no way to pass.
In either case though, you're going to want to be familiar with all the info when you're running a code. Pass the test, yes, but also read the book, even if you save some of it until after your course...
