jackbauer!

So, I'm taking Part I this summer and wanted to get some information on the best way to start studying. I will probably begin reviewing this semester so I can take boards early this summer to make time for a real summer vacation.

Anyways- what's the most efficient way to begin studying? I was thinking of printing out the scope of the exam from the ADA site and starting from the top and working my way down. Taking notes on things I feel weak with and going from there... as my studying progresses I will tweak my plan to focus on areas that I don't feel so comfortable with. Does this sound reasonable?

The materials I have are: Decks (06-07), Kaplan dentessentials, USMLE first aid, and a few books from the ridiculously simple series. I also have some kaplan Qbanks passed down from a 2nd year.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I searched for this topic and came up with nothing.

Thanks in advance,
jb!🙂

After talking to some DS3 and DS4 students at my school, it seems to be the consensus that the Dental Decks are a great study aid. The NBDE First Aid Book is also pretty good from what I have heard. I imagine the USMLE book covers a lot of the same concepts. It seems like you have a good plan. I don't know what score you are shooting for, but if you are just trying to get passing score, there are a couple of people I know who used only the Decks and did just that. Nothing spectacular, but passing. Good luck to you.

I'm not aiming to match into ortho or OMFS, but I would like to do well in order to get into a reputable GPR program. I guess my goal is 90..

I have heard that the decks were better for the old exam format, but have since lost their edge. Don't get me wrong, I still plan on using them. But it will probably be after I have a firm grasp of the material, and they will be used to reinforce/quiz.

Anyways- thanks for the replies.. keep em coming.
