Hello All!

I am currently in NYC and my undergraduate university offered to allow classes this spring semester to switch to P/NC at the discretion of the student. I am taking orgo lab right now as well as another upper level science and I'd be lying to say that I am able to really earn the grades I need this semester with everything going on, and so wondering if anyone has heard about schools accepting P/F credits for prereq? I imagine there are alot of students in my position. I know in the past schools haven't accepted it or it looked bad but these are new and uncertain times. I haven't heard back from my health professions adviser yet but wanted to come on here to ask if anyone has heard anything from dental schools? I will be applying this summer cycle so I will try to contact schools I plan on applying to as well. Thanks in advance!

I'd say it probably depends on the dental school or not, but if you are given the choice to either get traditional grades or P/F a class, I would stick with traditional grades. If it were me, I would be worried about schools finding out that I had the chance to get traditional grades but that I didn't because I was worried about not getting As/my GPA dropping/etc.... I think that would reflect poorly on me as a student. Idk, to each their own but I'd probably stick with traditional grades.

The dental school I’ll be attending next year is requiring students to keep letter grades for prerequisites if the student has the option. So if you have other classes that aren’t prereqs (your upper level bio may not be) you could probably take them pass fail, but I’d keep the orgo lab as graded.
