I received my Part II results yesterday (exactly 2 weeks after I took the exam) and scored well. I honestly had very little direction in studying for the exam since I put it off until so much later than my classmates. Most of the people I asked just studied Dental Decks but I was not happy with them even though I studied them and did fine on Part 1. So I went off to find more resources.
I discovered Mosby (publisher of a countless number of dental textbooks) had just released a book entitled "Mosby's Review for the NBDE Part II". Even though it was a bit pricey at around $60 and I already had Part II Dental Decks, I decided to order. When I got it, I found that it was a very concise source of information for the entire exam in a very readable form. It came with a CD which helped me immensely on the case studies (day 2 of the exam). After 2 weeks I had gone through the entire book without even opening my Dental Decks. I then went through the latest released exam (2006), and felt confident about my abilities, so I scheduled a date. Thankfully, in my area I could get a test date within 4 days from when I called.
The Mosby book prepared me adequately to score highly on the exam. If you have any questions, please ask them here.

hi i am taking my part 2 on october 20 & 21

could you pls send me a copy of the mosby part 2 just CD

Thanks for the info about the book, I just ordered it. I have took the test before and got 74, I only read decks and question papers. My situation is I am away from any type of clinical dentistry since 11 years, I am strong in areas like oral path/Rad, ortho/pedo, oral surgery/Pain, patient management, operative 2nd day part, I am not scoring well in pros, perio, endo and pharmacology. Do you think this book will help me get thorough this dificulty? I just need to pass. I need all the moral boost I can get right now.
Thanks

I can tell you the the endo section in the book is excellent. Decks do not cover the implant questions adequately, and I encountered many of those in my exam.
Perio and pharmacology are also well covered.
I would tell you to definitely review this book, and go over the 2006 released exam and you will do great.

Hi
Whats your score in Part II. I took part II in Feb and scored 85. Do you think it can help me score 90 in part II.

How is it possible for a candidate to a take WREB before passing part 2? Am I missing something here?!

If you graduated from an accredited dental school, you may take any board as long as the school sign the paper for you to take it. At my school, you can get the diploma without taking any boards. You need both NDBE to get your license only and if your school goes easy on you (like UCSF), you can take it any time after graduation. I know some of my classmates did the same thing

How do we know you're not Mr. Mosby attempting to sell your book? Can you give us any reliable evidence that you actually took the exam? I have to say your post is intriguing as I am getting ready to study for part II, but I'm just a little skeptical. Where are you at school? What was your score? Not trying to be hostile, but can you see where I'm coming from? That aside, if the post is completely non-fabricated, thanks for the advice.

2iatrogenic,

I see you're a student at UOP? Sorry to question that. So, after only studying this book for 2 weeks you did well on part II? Do you mind sharing your score; you can PM me if you wish. Again, thanks for the heads up with the book. BTW, did the book have many typos and duplicate pages? I too, have bought the Decks for part II, but kind of want to try something different.

The typos were silly and shouldn't confuse anyone (for example, in the prosth section they used the abbreviation RDP instead of RPD). There was one page where they repeated a few paragraphs, but if that disrupts your studying, you have other problems to work on. I would say go ahead and study with Decks, and if you feel you are ready, take it. If not, get this book.

Apology accepted....and by the way, Mosby is a huge publisher. I'm sure they don't have time or desire to defraud its readers by creating a fake user on SDN to sell 2 or 3 books.

Yes, you apparently are.

From WREB website FAQ (http://wreb.org/dental/dentalFAQs.htm):

I have passed the National Boards, Parts 1 and 2. What do I need to do to take the WREB?

Only state dental boards require the National Boards, Parts 1 and 2 for licensure. WREB does not require National Boards prior to taking the WREB exam.
