Passing % on Dental Mastery App

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did it in the four different sections I told you about. And just randomized it entirely for those four. For my first time through biochem/physiology was 76%, dental anatomy was 76%, anatomical sciences was 65%, and micro/path was 56%. I forget what the overall was. Second time through I just went through them over and over until I knew them all.

Lol... i'm assuming that is not the norm...but man wish I was getting those scores so I can be done with this thing already

I passed on my first attempt and used just the Pass the Dental Boards 300 Facts, a few ASDA papers (did no more than 400 old questions), and the NBDE Boards Mastery App.

First run: 60-70% across the board

I studied what I got wrong, made notes on them.

Second run: 95%+ across the board.

Good luck!

First time around using the app, I got about 68%. Passed boards on first attempt.

I’m scoring around 51% right now but I’m less than halfway thru the app and anatomy is wrecking me.

Exam is in 12 days!
You're lucky that your school let the class of 2022 take part 1 and 2. At my school they are forced to wait until D4 year to take the INBDE, which is still a sh*tshow right now as the ADA has not come up with any definitive plan yet. I would hate being a guinea pig for the new exam.
Part 1 is very easy to prepare for in my opinion. Go through all the questions in the Mastery app 2 times and you should be good!

My school only has a 7/10 pass rate and had 30-40 failures last year. So i think they want us to take part 1 so as many of us pass as possible before they have to adjust to a new one part exam.

Im about to finish the first pass of the app and after my second one, im going to do all the old released questions, as many as i can!

Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it! Ten days from now I will have taken prt 1! 🙂

A 70% pass rate is really, really bad. Which school do you go if you don't mind me asking? I think only 4 people failed the exam out of 100 in our class.

I was 60-70% for most sections on the app and passed. Test was basically what I expected. Once you’re done, make sure to cancel your subscription with mastery app or else it will automatically charge you, even if you delete the app. Shady as hell.

I had a friend who told me that she got 80-90% across the board on the mastery app. Me on the hand got 60-65% across the board which gave me the anxiety before the week of the exam. But in the end I passed the dental board and she failed her exam. This just proves to you that the % on the App means nothing. It is more important that you learn from the questions that you got wrong and the steps that you take to master the subjects.

What school do you go to that has a 70% pass rate for NBDE. Seems like there's a deficit in what/how they're teaching you. Isn't the national pass rate like 92%. Our entire class passed part 1 & 2 on first attempt

Just found out I passed the exam!

Did the app 1.5x and old released exams. Studied for two weeks.

This exam sucks and I thought it was really hard but just study hard for 1-2 weeks and just take it.

55% on mastery app. Passed first time. But I redid all the questions on mastery app that I was unsure of so the second time I was scoring about 70%. But then I did the exam and realised that the app only represented like 10% of the exam anyway

Yeah. People hyped up the app like it was the best thing ever. Barely covers any material but the explanations are great. The exam is way harder IMO. But I mean you don’t need to do remotely well on the exam to pass haha.!

Thanks! Like how many do you need to get right to pass the exam?

So for those who already passed the exam, if you had about a month to study and you had to choose only ONE from First Aid, Mastery App, and Dental Decks, which would you have chosen??

App and decks! First aid Is just a book. You want to be doing practice questions, not reading a book. There is too much to relearn so just focus on the high yield stuff.

Also I think a month is way too long. 2-3 weeks of studying at most is sufficient. You would be wasting your time if you spent more than three weeks studying for this.

Did you find it to be representative of material on exam? Seems like a few have said it covers very little..

My exam is after 1 month! And I don’t know how to study for it, i have the decks and the app
please any help or guidance??

It wasnt that great in what it covered, it was the majority of what I studied and I walked out of the exam thinking nothing I studied was on the exam, but I still feel it was good for the amount of time it took to do and it was presented in a way where you could learn things, it wasnt information overload. So I'd still recommend doing it.

I didn’t care for the mastery app. I had a 63% on the mastery app (going through 700 questions first try) but had a 80% on Dental Anatomy and Gross Anatomy. I touched up on Biochem and path because I heard from classmates that there’s a lot of questions on that. I passed first try. I didn’t care for mastery app. I felt I learned more by going through decks.
