Man, I can't keep up with these threads. I leave for 30 minutes, and I'm 3 pages behind!
 
So, um, next time I decide to take a fellow IM football player down I should choose more carefully. A guy who is 5'10" and about 170 is probably NOT a good choice for me.

I got up off the ground faster than him and his teammates were apparently yelling at him that he was embarassing them!!!

Yep, Texas ranks. It was modified this year to allow schools to offer acceptances before 'match day', but there is still a ranking process. Keeps people from holding multiple spots.

:laugh: Maybe, but referring to 'the interviewee in the back of the room' sort of gives him away. In his defense, it was a friendly pimp (if there is such a thing).
 
ranking med schools is kind of silly but thats just me i guess.

(The "Texas thing" being the TMDAS - Texas Medical and Dental Application Service - system, where you rank the state schools where you interviewed, and the schools rank you, and you match where the best fit is - like the NRMP.)

Yep totally ******ed. Why shouldnt it be like getting any other job? FWIW I have heard all the iterations im just saying that it would make things better for a lot of people..
 
The match worked great for me.. but i think overall the process is a complete bunch of crap.

I'm sort of on the fence. Yes, there are horror stories about how it used to be. But there are plenty of bad stories about how it is now. The only thing I think it does is centralize the time at which people go. And very rarely are people left out of spots they want. Just like in the real world, people might not get the job they want, but they rarely get one that they didn't apply for. And sometimes, they have to work at Burger King for a year and try again.
