If I have a high enough grade to pass a class without taking the final, but very little chance of doing better than passing, skipping the final is still a bad idea, right?

Yes take the final.. I cant imagine your final would count for so little but what do i know..

Focus on where you can make a difference. i had a problem with this

It's actually only 10% since it's a nationally standardized final and our test was cumulative. All my other grades are good, although I have a feeling I tanked today. I would have had to tank today to the tune of a 50% to fail the class, though.

Are you on a pass/fail type system? Cause otherwise if you are on an A,B,C system it could matter. I am guessing you know what you are talking about grade wise!

I love this time of the yr cause everyday feels like a weekend!

Yeah, but they feel like those weekends in college you had to go home. You know, no more beer for breakfast, no more ramen noodles.

It's pretty sweet except for the rules. Also, my parents don't have cable, and have dialup internet through JUNO!

No - H/HP/P and H/HP are really hard to get (top 30% or so)

If you are talking about a 3rd year rotation then national standardized final is actually good practice for step 2 CK. I know it is a pain, "what is the next step in the management of this patient" kind of BS.

You're back, and not "on hold" anymore.

Yup - came off last night at midnight (but I was in my bed at that point).

Yeah, I'm just a 2nd year. They torture us with those stupid things ALL THE WAY THROUGH. And yes, I took it. And it sucked. And I stopped caring about 5 minutes in.

Standardized tests are teh suck!!1!!one

Although we will have to deal with them for the rest of our lives, so might as well get used to it.

I'm thoroughly convinced that I've taken more in my life than any other person my age.

I switched schools a BUNCH as a kid (well, like 3 times) and always seemed to end up taking them EVERY year, took three different entrance exams for high school (different schools), took the SAT AND the ACT, and my high school had a special "standardized testing day" EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Not to mention that last year I took 5 of them for med school and this year I will take 4 PLUS Step 1.

I'm so sick of bubbles and #2 pencils.

Ooh, we get to compare. Well, we have to take yearly TCAP tests all through elementary school, so that is 5 (kindergarteners get a free pass), plus 3 years of middle school, then I got another one in VA for the second half of 8th grade; High school had just 3 (2 in VA, 1 in TN because they wouldn't let me graduate, it was a freshman test, I was a senior. Let's just say it wasn't hard), ACT, SAT II (but no SAT, Washington and Lee requires it for college admissions), ACS tests in O Chem, P Chem, and Analytical, MCAT, GRE, ACS tests again in grad school, this time one in inorganic as well, NBME in anatomy, biochem, physiology, histology, neuro, micro, pharm, medicine, surgery, psychiatry, OB/GYN, peds. Thankfully the Steps aren't bubble tests anymore.
I am always tempted to start using black ink (and I have for some tests).

Standardized tests suck but they do have a place it helps measure people who go to school A where the avg GPA is a 3.7 vs school B where the avg GPA is 2.7...
