I've decided to tell all of my friends not to take vacation during december/jan. Because we are 4th years, nobody will fail us. So why ruin your vacation by making short trips to places when you're all stressed out. Save the vacation for March or April (if you school isn't lame and doesn't make you do a mandatory class then), so that you have good weather, no stress, and can spend all your time in one place.
Just wish I had thought of it sooner.

Hmmmm...have to remember that. Our school actually is pretty accomodating, though. You can take some "correspondence" electives 4th year that are pretty much BS but that you can do from any computer with the intarweb. My friends and I are going to try to do a medical Spanish "elective" in Costa Rica, as well 🙂.

Well I wouldn't say I took 6 weeks of vacation. We get 14 weeks of vacation to do as we pleast. I took 2 earlier, then 4 weeks for Step II. I only took 2 weeks for interviews and combined it with a 4 weeks online elective that took less than 1 week of work to do. Add that I missed almost 2 weeks of an earlier elective due to interviews, and I've had about 14 weeks of vacation already. I have 3 months left of rotation time, with about 1 week left for interviewing/traveling, match and the post match hangover, and then a final 6 weeks of official vacation time at the end of the year. I love 4th year.

It's an MP5 submachine gun. I have no idea if something like this is legal in Hawaii, but if I could convert it into fully automatic, then I'll be ready for the zombie invasion.

I believe so......It's not really a "contract" per se, and I haven't been officially offered the job yet but the lady has been hounding me about it. I guess we'll see how it shakes out. If it's more than 1 year mandatory, they can forget it.

I just found out that I will never be getting my loan check. It has been directly applied to my tuition already. I still owe 560 dollars. Of course I'm not paying 45k for tuition though.

Haha...I couldn't get anything else I wanted for the month. And yes it is at Sinai...but the good thing about Sinai is that I can easily get out of stuff if need be. I'm already down to a 2 day week this week because of interviews, and possibly a 1 day week considering I have no idea who or where to meet monday.

Dude painful. Anyways good luck. I would take care of EVERYTHING i needed during those 4 weeks. It is a waste of time from what others have told me. Truth is for an EM doc you wont get a ton of experience or gain much knowledge but when you hit residency you'll get what you need.
