I asked my gf if she wanted to travel up there to check things out but it was too expensive. It wouldn't have been for a second look because I think it would look bad to do a second look at a place I spent a month at. But I think I would have asked to stay at the nice hotel for free again. I'm doing 2 other second looks at other places to help me sort things out, I love Cinci's program, but I loved other places too.

Here's my one big question. I will be buying, but I will probably be buying sometime in May/June. How do you work out the mortgage payments during that time and when that first check rolls in on July 15th or whenever?

Also, I'll be getting a new car too. Preferably one without a roof.

Check out the bank of america doc loan.. you might have to come up with 1 months mortgage.. how? youll have to figure it out....

Video card, new processor. But you are correct, there is very little you can do in the confined spaces of the laptop.
However, desktops are a completely different story, but since Mac realized that they were losing, they went to the IBM chipset that allows user customizations.
However, they still charge more for them. The exact same LCD that comes in white plastic often costs 10-20% more than the black plastic dell model, both of them using the same innards from Southeast Asia.
 
oh boy.. computers.. anyways can we all agree our lives are better for having them...

actually no it isnt.. i believe its all the places around vegas (clark county) where it is legal.. but technically in vegas it is illegal though you wouldnt know it if you went there.

"Mac" isn't a company, BTW...it's "Apple."

And they didn't switch to "the IBM chipset." They were already using "the IBM chipset," which was the PowerPC (IBM and Motorola are both heavily invested in the development of PowerPC). Because of their failure to produce faster processors, however, Apple switched to Intel. It had nothing to do with "user customizations." You can pretty much do the same stuff with a PPC-based Mac that you can do with an Intel-based Mac, with the exception of running Windows without the need for emulation (and who does that?) 😉

It's one thing to prefer one computer over the other, but let's not perpetuate mythology.

You should know better! The only reason I go in there anymore is to stop any nasty rumors about RFUMS. Although I will retire from this after this application year. They're blood sucking vampires in there.
 
Yeah.. truth is I dont even bother defending the place. It did what I needed it to do for me. I think the place isnt all that bad at all. I will say they screwed me with financial aid and as such I told Dean Ross and Welch and the people in financial aid that I wouldnt give that school another shiny dime because of it.
 
I do give annually to my undergrad even though right now it is painful.. Of course I found my wife there.. so i dont have enough money to pay for how lucky i got but we try..

Dr Fetus.. congrats you are about to graduate.. ohh and how long is your residency?.. 3 years.. Oh ok your loan payments will look like a real nice house payment for the next 30 yrs...
 
Will in the end the payments arent terrible esp if you consolidated.. i consolidated most of it at 3.3% or so.. another .25 off with auto debit and another 1% off when i pay 36 months on time..

Ill prob start repaying this when I start moonlighting.. the sooner i get that 1% the better.. i owe a crap load of money..

I only go in there to attempt to further exacerbate the feelings of guilt and inadequacy among the premeds. It's fun to watch them squirm and try to appear altruistic and as pure humanitarians who could care less about the benefits to themselves.....me I prefer to be open about my motivations: I enjoy a good clinical challenge and I like to be the one making the decisions.

I've used both Windows CE/Mobile/whatever its called today and Palm. I got Palm on my Treo 'cause I thought I'd need it to synch with my Mac. Silly me. My old Windows PDA synched just as well and I actually liked it better.

For what it's worth, I'm not anti-Windows. I just like my Mac better.

Now the iPod, I can't live without. I have about a 20 minute commute each day and use my 'pod to listen to EM:RAPs and EM Abstracts.

BTW, those two series are outstanding and now are free to all EMRA members. I highly recommend them. If your program doesn't pay your EMRA dues, this benefit alone would make joining worthwhile.

Finally done with work. It was fun though. We had a refresher on EKG's, which I hadn't had in about 5 years. Now, I feel confident that given an EKG I could properly mis-diagnose any EKG I come across. 🙂 👍 😀

too many turds out there as premeds.. then they are turdlets as med students.. then they are awful residents and attendings with no social graces yet they think they are gods gift.. serious axis 2 Personality issues..
 
Ok, so I went over to EMRA to read about Roth IRAs and all that (good stuff, I must say).
Then remembered those EMRA forums. Is there any reason they are so lame? They are also loaded with spam, which is hella annoying.
