Post-studying and post-drinking post pad 🙄

Time to sleep to start again tomorrow...

Well, since I'm getting no love from you, maybe you should introduce me to the sister. 😉 *runs and hides to avoid beating*

Yeah, you better stay hid with thoughts like those.

back from the catskills

<shameless postpad, really>

Teeth brushed, face washed, clothes laid out.

Yup, another first day of school tomorrow.

Oh, and as of tomorrow it will also be a year since my last "real" relationship - and thus a lovely (at times) year of singledom!!

Morning all. Goodluck socute! have fun at school and play nice with the other kids...

<lecture lecture lecture... must write lecture>

Good night, and good luck.
Thanks. It was a very short night, and it's going to be a really long day. Off to take the computer to get fixed (which I feel lost without it). Hopefully this is the last time. 🙄

Word up people!! Urgent care tonite.

Over the last 2 shifts I have taken care of my 1st 2 trauma patients SWEETNESS. Also got to do some real FAST exams and conscious sedations... MONEY baby!! money!

I've always liked the penguin theory - the brain is like an iceberg filled with penguins. Each penguin represents one fact. Once the iceberg is full of penguins, no further penguins can be added. Unless, of course, a penguin jumps off. So once in med school, the acetylcholine penguin replaces the math penguin. Furthermore, the iceberg shrinks with age (or alcohol, or weed, or coke, or whatever.)

Basically, everything I learn within medicine replaces something I knew in preschool. Or college. Meanwhile, the total area available for information shrinks yearly. Yikes!
Thankfully, it's been shown your capacity for LTM is essentially infinite for our own purposes. The stuff you forget is either not retrievable or has actually been lost due to lack of retrieval.

The first years at my school had their first anatomy exam today.

SO GLAD I'm not a first year anymore!

You neglected the well-known "Robbins factor" where average posts per day is automatically divided by 2 to account for decreased free time and increased desire to tear one's hair out.

Actually, I'm very familiar with the Robbins factor (I studied from the first edition). Also the grant's factor, the Lehninger factor, the Harrison factor, etc.

I still maintain that MDs are innumerate, having shot the math penguin late in high school.

Oh, and Quinn - my aunt had surgery at your former institution today!

As a chemistry major I waited until senior year of college to push him off the iceberg. He's long gone now, though.

I too was a chem major.. loved it.. anyways time to get prepped for work. I need to tidy up the house or else the misses will be unhappy! Im sure i wont have time but if i do ill pad it up from there.

I did chemistry and history double major - what an idiot. I should have dropped the chem and done underwater basket weaving once the med school requirements were done. My friend is a math teacher, and it just takes one visit from her to realize how seriously I cannot add.

Very sad.

First day of classes done. I will have two boring classes this semester. Both of them science, both of them lecture. It's not the science that's boring, it's the lecture part. Labs are real fun.

Good lord, it is a zoo here today!

I'll trade you? My Robbins for your zoo?

Sounds fair to me 🙂.

sounds fine to me... 😴

Mine starts at 7, but these swing shifts are causing my circadian problems.
Oh well, I get next week off (for Step II CK).

started school again and I must say, this year's crop of freshman are looking fantastic. They're all walking around in their spaghetti straps and daisy dukes.

I'm going to start wearing giant glasses around my balls during the day and see how many comments I get. Nevermind, they'll be too hard to keep up. I'll buy a bunch of those sarcastic shirts from Hot Topic.

Ok I need some hairstyle tips from some people around here. Chicks preferable, but if the guys know some great tips that will help get the ladies, then I'm all for it. My normal hair is about 2-3 inches long on top. Sides are blended. Part on left. I'm thinking about trying to go for the pretty boy male model almost mohawk look. I can't grow my hair out just yet. Any ideas?

I can't stand the pre-allo forum right now. That is why I post here a majority of the time. Interview season brings out the most neurotic tendencies in all of us I guess. They have about 1 worth while thread for every 50 insane ones.

I would spend time in surgery too, but they're not very nice over there at all. They're so business-like. Someone tried to ask surgical advice, and not like patient advice, and they closed that down pretty fast. No community over there whatsoever.

A nurse asks me for the first time the other week what kind of doctor I wanted to be. I felt so sheepish answering because I really shouldn't "know" what I want to do until I experience it. Anyway, I told her either surgery, anethesiology, or emergency medicine. My reasons were that I'm very interested in procedures and seeing results fast. My mind is constantly thinking about future events and possible outcomes. I feel like following a patient for several weeks would make me an angry doctor. Well, that's 10 posts. It was good talking to you all. abtya-abtya-abtya-a that's all folks. 😛
