Path's lead is shrinking..

It's even funnier when you see my drunken rendition of it on videotape..... :meanie:

Speaking of Warren Zevon: If anyone gets the chance I highly recommend his last album. It was recorded while he was dying from cancer and it contains the most hauntingly beautiful rendition of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". There are parts where you can tell he's short of breath, but the harmony vocalists do a good job of hiding it. Supposedly Bob Dylan listened to it and said it was the best version of that song he'd ever heard.

Ok, let me just say that I bawled during Grey's Anatomy. Embarassing.

Oh, and Patrick Dempsey is FIIIINE!

That's one show I've never watched (I've actually never seen any ads for it either)....and from the sounds of it I probably would not enjoy it.....doesn't seem like I'm missing much.

When it started, the show's annoying stupid bull**** was a detractor. Now that the show has evolved into people, and less about medicine, it's better - although the medical issues still are more exotic than real-world bread and butter, and surgical interns (!) seem to be the best thing EVAR - I mean, comparatively, if "Seattle Grace Hospital" (is it supposed to be "Harborview"?) interns kick so much ass, wouldn't the PGY2's be godlike? - still, the stories are more "fleshed-out" now, and not SO stupid.

Give it a whirl, and, if you don't dig it - fair enough.

By the way, does anyone else get weird songs stuck in their heads?

Nope, just you. I've never had that problem.

Take care,
Jeff

Clearly you nor Dylan ever heard GNR do it then 😎

Personally for about a week now I have had Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole stuck in my head. If you haven't heard it you should check it out. It's great.

My wife loves that show but I have to be honest it stinks.. It is your typical everyone is screwing everyone thing and then they throw in some medical BS to pass the time.. Boring 😴

2 of the female interns are sleeping with the attendings and the the interns there know more than most of the attendings I have worked with, oh and on top of that they seem to know a lot in EVERY part of the hospital they are in, Ob - Check, NICU -Check.. Silly.

Yes, but I get to stare at PATRICK DEMPSEY. Not that I expect that to be a plus for you, EF!

This is funny to me. Patrick Dempsey made a career out of being a skinny little dweeb, then he disappeard for about 10 years, and now he is a heart-throb.
There is hope for us all.

Come on...all doctors have to think that there is hope for nerds. I mean, let's face it, there is a science nerd buried within everyone on this board (it's just a matter of how deep it is buried!).

I will say the female intern with blonde hair is HOT.. but I could just download a picture on the internet and stare at it.. that would at least spare me the less than amusing storyline 🙂

just my opinion..

The live GNR version of "Knockin'..." certainly ranks up there, but there is something about hearing a guy who is terminal sing it....it's really poignant and meaningful. Kind of like how Trent Reznor said he preferred Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt".

Random sharing:

I just booked a dive trip in Key Largo for next week. Woo-hoo! Being an intern sucks, but getting paid is nice too.

Just had to tell someone, and you all are pretty cool. (Referencing the "we rock" thread, of course.)

Not to mention, it counts as a +pad+

I agree with you totally about the show. A little back story. That is Katherine Heigl you refer to. She is also the start of side effects the movie which every doctor should see. http://www.sideeffectsthemovie.com/home.shtml
She has also been one of the loves of my life since My Father the Hero. I think she was 14 or so in that but I was only 15 so it's ok.
Also notable is 100 Girls http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0214388/

Excellent point. Cash's Hurt is amazing.

eddie murphy (as buckwheat), "wookin pa nub in aw da wong pwaces, wookin' pa naahhbbb..."

come to think of it, eddie murphy's "party all the time" with rick james was also quite a diddy!

Your married dont worry too much.. Better than being a fat slob like me 🙂.. Im just getting my excercise in so I dont die of a MI at 38... A little running and healthy eating should help!

Same here....I'm out of shape (that's what no exercise for two years will do for you) and have a family history of cardiac disease

The grandparent of mine who died the youngest died of cardiac disease.

On a sad note, my last remaining grandparent is currently suffering from CHF and, more recently, renal failure. Putting my vast (cough!) knowledge of cardiophys to work I determined that the two could potentially be related.

Ok, FINE! It was southerndoc's cardiophys knowledge. Happy?

I liked it too. It is pretty relevant to just about anything, and I thought all the people were cool and smart.

I hate powerpoint, but I LOVE ETHICS. I minored in med ethics in college and loved it waaaay more than my major. In fact, I still have pretty good recall with that stuff. Friends who are interviewing call me to "brief" them!
