Small world. I lived in Charleston for a little while...it was beautiful and historic, but very hot/humid in the summers. unless you could afford to live on the beach (and i could not) it was just too hot. but that goes for the entire state and therefore the reason i'd kind of like to get out of here for rersidency.

I can't wait for the superbowl craziness to be over! I couldn't get the guys to turn off ESPN on call last night, they NEEDED to watch the pre-game crap!
 
The Super Bowl is IMO the most OVERRATED event in sports. Most of the games are a complete blow out. Sucks man.. I am a huge football fan..
 
I have spent an inordinate amount of time watching, learning and playing football and FWIW College is better than the pros.. The only reason to really really get into it is because your team is in it.

Haha, the CFL is almost too small to be considered a professional league. The players make on average 50-60,000/year! 🙂 I have a friend who works in a business contract with the Lions so he brings me out for games once in awhile with a free dinner + open bar in the VIP lounge and then front-row seats right behind the Lions' benches. Good times! 🙂

Hi Streetdoc,

I have heard of 100 mile house, but I can't say I know anything about it! It's in the interior of BC (about a 10 hour drive from Vancouver) but I know a few people that go camping there in the summer.

Why do you ask?
 
Yeah, we all know the Superbowl is Sunday. But the REAL athletic event of the year tips off at 9 PM EST when Carolina (defending national champs) goes up against perennial rival Duke!!!

Really? I didn't know they had hospitals out there! 😀

I can tell you a lot about Vancouver if you wanted to do a rotation here, and if you're looking for skiing, Whistler is the best ski resort in N. America and only a couple hours of a drive north from here.

By the way. If anyone has comcast cable with ondemand. I HIGHLY recommend you go to ONdemand, then tv entertainment, the BBCA, then Coupling. This show is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! They have the first 2 episodes up now.

So, I spent today studying at a law school library thinking that it would help me get away from my gunner-ish classmates. Little did I know that I would be getting away from EVERYONE.

Med students in the law library: 2
Law students in the law library: 1

If any of my friends who are in law school whine about how much they have to study, they are SOOOO not getting any sympathy.

I used to work as a EMT for rock concerts. I got to meet a lot of great people (Ozzy and all the guys from Black Sabbath, the guys from AC/DC, etc) and I was invited to sit backstage for a Black Sabbath Concert....we were more or less right behind the drum kit. I've still got the drumstick Bill Ward gave me afterwards. 👍

My hubby's best friend went to law school & has said that he never studied anywhere near what I have for med school.

I'm working at concerts right now, and Canucks games, (and anything at GM place stadium) so I run into a lot of celebrities. It's pretty cool, and there's always a reasonable amount of medical and a few trauma calls.

My wife is a lawyer and even though she is gunner-esque she never studied like I did.. She went to a top 10 law school to bat... 😎 Bottom line is there is nothing out there like medical school!

Moving bodies, assisting with embalming, and working funerals really inhibits ones ability to +pad+
 
I spent time with my wife, we hung out with her mom who returned from a little R&R in Florida.. Shes going back tomorrow.. Hopefully if the match works out for me and my wife her mom will be moving with us (living separately). Thatll be cool cause we get along great.... Match day.. less than 6 weeks!!!

i say go steelers, but I really could care less. I'm a pretty big NFL fan, but you know if your teams not in it, just isn't fun anymore. I'll be happy to watch the commercials though, hey they are paying lots of money for that air time and I'll be darned if I don't watch to boost their ratings! I figured me watching is probably costing them like 20 bucks...
 
Yeah im a fins fan.. Im a much bigger college fan though.. In the end its a reason to drink and hang with my friends!

well I think in Alabama, most folks dont' even know there is NFL...Auburn/Alabama pretty much rule all discussions. One time my surgeon got mad at me, cause I knew most of the questions he pimped me on thyroid stuff, but when he asked me who was playing the college game thursday night, I did not know. He said my grade would suffer some...of course he was joking haha.
