did anyone out there in the wide wide world consider taking a formal PCAT review prior to taking the actual exam? I mean, I just bought the Kaplan Review Book (ISBN 0743247558) and was considering just cramming for the month and change I have before taking the summer exam but then started wondering if I could/should just take a review course over the summer and study the book I have and wait till October to take the exam?

Just wanted to know how other people out there did it. Most everyone seems to have just bought the book(s) and studied on their own? The courses here in the city of Chicago are limited for the PCAT and pricey ($300-$500). But if it works then the price would be justified.

.....um oh yea.....pls send me some $$ to cover the cost of the class as well!

U could try searching for one of my past posts. I used the Kaplan book and took MWU CCP's pcat course. If u havent taken the PCAT before, I would advise not cramming for it. I dont know what ur strengths or weaknesses are, but u do. If u feel comfortable taking it in June, by all means do so. I wish u the best on the test.

I would not advise cramming for this exam especially if it has been a while since you've seen this material. Although it is very general test indeed, there is lots to go through and much to memorize. Chemistry, calculus(basic), math, vocabulary, physiology, anatomy, organic chemistry, cell biology, evolution, classification, WAY TOO MUCH.

Unless you can retain loads of information in a one month period, then you I would start reviewing now. Less than 50 days to go. I've been through the Kaplan book once and review notes periodically. I do practice problems everyday and I still can't answer some of the questions.

I would advise doing as many practice problems you can get your hands on. I don't anticipate this being a hard exam, as evident by the practice exam offered on the PCAT site but you do have to put some study time into it. There are a lot of people vying for position in pharm school for the next year and this is one way to set yourself apart from them. Take the test in June and see how you do. You always have the october one to fall back on....
