PCAT review

If you don't have the time to devote to KAPLAN try ARCO Master the PCAT, it's about 1/3 the size of KAPLAN. It really helped me get down test timing and I thought it was very similar to the real test. Someone in another thread said that pcatprofessor.com is exactly like ARCO.

This threat should be moved over to the PCAT section....the best review is to take the exam twice...are they testing to see if student have photographic memory? did they do a study on student passing the naplex without taking the PCAT? ............. or this is generating more money for harcourt business?

In regards to which study guide to use to prepare for the PCAT, I know there are many options to choose from. I think my situation is different however. I graduated with a biology degree in 2003. As a result, I haven't taken those basic biology, chemistry and math courses in quite some time :scared:. I know a lot of people on here go through their old books to review including the study reviews and practice tests, but what if you don't have access to them anymore? Also, going back and reading through old textbooks seem time consuming, especially if you read at a slower pace like me! I know the KAPLAN PCAT study guide seems comprehensive and is more of a "thick" book. Would I be good if I dedicated my time in going through that alone? I'm taking Organic I and Calculus this fall, so I don't have that much time to concentrate solely on the PCAT, especially with applying for next year. I plan to take the PCAT twice, once this October and once in January. Any suggestions?

People have said that Kaplan is a good book that pretty much covers everything except organic and microbio. I was also looking at some Cliff's books for AP bio. Those seemed really helpful! I've kinda been finding Kaplan to be confusing.

The Kaplan book is very good although in some sections has too much fluff and makes reading it extremely time consuming. They don't have enough organic reactions in the practice test and the math is a little off as there isn't enough calculus.

I've heard the cliff's books are great, I am outstanding at organic but i bought organic 1 and organic 2 cliff's books just to help me remember the reactions since my organic book is like 1200 pages and has way too much information to just read through.

hello, when you mentioned "cliff's books" - did you mean by cliffnotes or the PCAT practice exams from cliff's test prep?

thank you 🙂

I just ordered that although I haven't read it yet. But I did receive the Cliff Notes book on Organic Chem 1 and Organic Chem 2. I have already taken both but just got these books to freshen up. They were like $3 apiece on amazon.com!
