Hi Everyone,

I was at PCOM for interview yesterday (March 15), maybe some of you were there too. I was just wondering if anyone knows the next time the committee meets. From reading other posts, seems like they may have had one about 2 weeks ago. I think I did well on my interview, but you guys know, no one knows what will happen when the committee meets. Any thoughts guys? Thanks a bunch 🙂

Last meeting was Feb 27th. They have been meeting every three weeks... with that in mind, it is likely that the next meeting would be on Tuesday, March 20. Good luck! Hope to see you in the fall!

Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help..

Thank you so much for the information! I am nervous about the decision but I am so excited. I really liked the school so much and everyone seems so nice. Hope to see you there too!

Hey Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this months meeting? Anyone know if they did meet this week so far? Thanks everyone, I am driving myself crazy waiting to hear and it hasnt even been a week yet haha.

I was there last week too, and its probably too soon to hear anything! Maybe tomorrow, if the adcom did meet on Tuesday this week. Hang in there!

I live in PA and I did not receive my acceptance letter until Monday of the following week. Some people receive their letter as early as Friday, however. I was not one of those individuals. The bulk of the letters were received on the Saturday or Monday following an adcomm meeting.

Best of luck!

Rumor on campus is that the meeting was reschedulled for the 27th...so don't expect any letters this week.

Hey guys,
thanks so much for all your input. I am sure you are/were just as nervous and excited as I am now. Goodluck to all of you! 🙂

So did they meet today??

I interviewed at PCOM yesterday (the 28th) and they told me at the end of the interview that they just had the admissions committee meeting the day before (the 27th).

Thank you for the update...the waiting will be over soon enough😀

does the admissions committee meeting include those who had their interview on the 26th as well?

Your welcome. Hope you hear good news. I still have to keep waiting, as they told me the next meeting won't be for another 3 weeks....

Not sure....they didn't give any specifics, just that the meeting took place on the 27th.

Thanks Bbjk84 for the info and good luck. It's been the longest month ever...

I think I read that people started getting letters as early as the Friday after a meeting. That's tomorrow!! :scared: I'm kind of far so it'll probably be early next week for me but I'll check the mail a million times tomorrow anyway...

Hey all,

I am SOOO nervous, but I wanted to wish everyone goodluck and we need to realize we did the best we could do and its up to them now! AHHH, soooo nervous to open the letter! Everyone keep me posted!

Yea, no mail for me either...I was so sure it would come today. Your right DOMO, maybe tomorrow!

i feel like i'm taking CRAZY PILLS!!!!!! :meanie: 😕

I would have loved to meet some of you when you interviewed yesterday, but we had an exam today!👍

Hope your exam went well. It did seem a bit quiet with people headed for libraries and study rooms.

Got in today! I was placed on delayed decision in December and recieved the good news today!

I'm only ten minutes from the school so people should be hearing Monday if further away!

Goodluck!

This is off topic, but I saw the movie "Shooter" the other day, and part of it was filmed in Philadelphia. At least that's where it says it was set. You guys are fortunate to go to school in such a beautiful city.

Congrates DOMO! I'm off delayed decision (from January) and onto the wait list. This came in the mail today. I live right outside Phili. I'm thrilled! I'll be more ecstatic if I move off the wait list but it's better than a reject, ANY DAY. Is the acceptance letter in a bigger envelope or is it the same size? I was really worried when I saw the normal size envelope.

I mean congrats to MrMDO. Hang in there DOMO! We are all getting better at the waiting game.

omg I am so excited for everyone and I am getting more nervous by the day! I even put my mail on hold today so I could go earlier to the post office but it wasn't there. I am just so nervous to open that envelope and I have my whole family waiting and praying for me, I hope it is good news! Again, goodluck guys..hope you all get good news too!

another pcom meeting will be held mid april =(
or at least thats what what the admissions director emailed meh

Hey guys,

I got my letter today and I'll swallow my pride and let you all know I was completely rejected from the school. YOu know, you always prepare yourself for it, but its just different when you read the few lines they give you that say the typical "we regret to inform y ou"... I really really hope things go better for you all! Know all I can do is figure out ways to make myself feel better.. haha and think about plan B seriously now. Thanks for everything guys and goodluck!

i'm sorry to hear that neener. where are you from? i'm down in maryland so i'm curious as to how quickly i should expect a letter.

i just received my letter today and i got waitlisted..... i'm so frustrated. does anyone know if pcom ranks their waitlist? when it starts to move? how many people are on their waitlist currently? what are my freaking odds?

i'm shaking right now i'm just so dissapointed. i'm so tired of being waitlisted. i don't even know if it's a good thing anymore.

The waitlist rarely moves. PCOM usually accepts slightly more than ~270 students, then in June/July they offer deferments to people that want them.

If the waitlist does move this year, expect it to be after the May 15th 2K deposit deadline. Its just a waiting game from here on out. GOODLUCK!

Hey Premedlover,
I am from NE Pennsylvania...you should tomorrow or very soon...goodluck again! And to the waitlisters, I am sure it is frusterating, but if you get a deferment that is still cool because you will know where you are able to go next year. Goodluck again everyone..

so sorry I messed up that post alot haha...I am out of it. sorry about the waitlist sickofwaiting, but I guess its better thana flat out rejection like me. Everything will work out for the best soon! goodluck all

Also got the waitlist letter today.
I am asking the same questions as well
hopefully someone in SDN can get us the inside scoop

For those who got waitlisted/rejected, how did you think your interview went? Did you have a disappointed feeling from right after the interview (like I do) or did you think everything went smoothly?? And if the interview went great, what do you think is the reason you might have got waitlisted? Just trying to see my odds here, thats all :-/

see that's the weird thing. when i first got there they said that interviews will take 15 minutes or a half hour. if they get to know us really quickly it would only take 15 minutes at the most, but if it takes longer that's also ok. so i took that as, if we like you it won't be long, and if we don't, it will take longer. i was literally in there for 10 minutes. i felt good about the interview, they said they it was their pleasure, and i was on my way. i'm just so confused about the entire process.

the letter said that they are overwhelmed with people, but they are still interviewing aren't they?!

and what's with this deferment thing i hear? they offer you a gauranteed spot for the following year?

i have no idea why i was waitlisted. there are a number of factors of possibly why i have been, but i'm very confident it doesn't have to do with my interview skills. i interviewed with 3 doctors, one of them who was on a premed comittee, and they all said i have good interviewing abilities. i could have been waitlisted because i didn't fit into a quota they are trying to fill, my mcat score was factored back into the equation, 26, my gap may not have been high enough, 3.6, or they were just having a bad day and thought my name sounded funny.

this whole process in my mind is bull****. i even had an interview back in february, i interviewed on march 5th, but it was cancelled due to snow. i may have been screwed because of that. who knows.

Length of interview has nothing to do with how you do. Having a quick or a long one. They have stopped interviewing. They may still do a few interviews of people int he biomed program but thats about it. The deferment thing only relates to the last two years and should not be counted on to happen again. What happened was they recieved a higher than expected yield of people who said they wanted to come to PCOM. To avoid overcrowding they offered anyone who wanted to take off another year a deferment. They than started the next year.

Having to offer deferments is not what a school wants to do. They hope that the % yield is what they expect and it usually is. I would venture to say that they are now trying to anticipate this. Waitlist movement will probably not start till May 15th when the 2000 dollar deposit is due. This pretty much commits kids to the school, so people will be forced to decide if PCOM is right for them.

thanks for the info jonnyg. someone in this thread said the pcom's waitlist rarely moves, yet i talked to someone who goes there and she said it moves pretty quickly. could you give me some insight on that?

also, do you think it's appropriate to call and ask about my waitlist position?

just to let you know, the 2K deposit is due APRIL 15 not May.

I was told by PCOM admissions that the wait list is not ranked. For Neener, I feel your pain as that "we regret...." is a real bummer, especially since it sounds like you had a good interview.

They moved it up this year. It finally makes sense to me why they met three days before they would be finished interviews. I thought it was stupid not to just wait a week, but just shows how smart they really are (they admitted me afterall).

Oops my fault!! 🙂 Either way, the waitlist won't move until after this date. and JonnyG was correct, the adcom will be interviewing a few more people (april 9th). I'm not sure who these students are (Biomeds, or regular applicants) but I believe some have no affiliation with PCOM (aren't in the master's program) because they need tour guides.

👍

im sorry. I might be having a dumb moment, but why does their meeting three days before the interview date show their smartness??

Will the adcom review and decide on everyone they've met with up until the time of the adcom meeting? I interviewed on March 14th and am driving myself crazy trying to figure out when I'll hear some results, so any help would be appreciated!! 😳)

i don't really understand how any school can have an unranked waitlist. there has to be some kind of a system, otherwise it would take the adcom forever to review everyone's file "periodically". they have to have something in some type of order - but maybe they are just told not to tell anyone?

it just doesn't add up. i could maybe understand if the wailist was only 30-50 people, but for all i know it could be made up of hundreds. what's the system?!?!?!?

The pcom-ga waitlist is ranked, I sure the main campus' is also.
