i don't really understand how any school can have an unranked waitlist. there has to be some kind of a system, otherwise it would take the adcom forever to review everyone's file "periodically". they have to have something in some type of order - but maybe they are just told not to tell anyone?

it just doesn't add up. i could maybe understand if the wailist was only 30-50 people, but for all i know it could be made up of hundreds. what's the system?!?!?!?

At least some schools use the waitlist to balance out the class. For example, a school aims to have 10% URMs but after the deposit due date only 5% of the incoming class is URMs. The ADCOM would go to the waitlist and admit more URM's to try to get closer to their 10% goal.

In such a system, there's no way to rank the waitlist without knowing what a school needs "more" of in a particular class.

thanks for the sympathy RuralDO.. its a bummer! I am still deciding what I should do, Post-bac or take a year off. I called PCOM and obviosuly they say the recommend post-bac, but I really dont know if I can swing another year of tuition. I know it really wont matter in the end, but I am from a small town and a small middle class family, its hard to know I would do another year in debt, when i could improve with my GPA, but the problem really is just the MCAT for me. I am not a good standardized test taker, infact, I am simply terrible 🙁 I dont know... so many decisions to make now! ahhhhhhhh and goodluck to all those waiting to hear still!

Better work on this then if it is your weakness. In medicine, you will have standardize tests for the rest of your career (extending FAR FAR beyond med school and COMLEX)

if grades are your worry, try finding a job at a school which offers post bac program, and see if they have tuition benefits that could help you take the classes for free. That's what I did. You can make some money, without having to worry about another year worth of class tuition in debt.

PCOM met today? Going on the assumption of 3 weeks between meetings, I was wondering if today had been the day.

Thanks!

they met last tuesday. It seems to be that they're waiting for the May 15th deadline to see how many people actually matriculate before they start really pulling people off the waitlist.

SO they did meet tuesday huh?
I was hoping for something this week...especially since they moved up the 5/15 2K deposit to 4/15 this year!
I have already put in my 2K deposit for GA-PCOM. 😀 It would just be nice to know if I need to move or not for the Philly campus.
