hey,
does anyone know when the next adcom meeting is this month? thanks and good luck to everyone!🙂

Before winter break.

👍

Hang in there

12/22 I think

Not sure if the most recent interviewees will be in that grouping or not. Perhaps I can ask around

JPH

Yay!!!! I got accepted!! Thanks, everyone for being so helpful!

congratulations

Hey JP, do you happen to know when people interviewing on Dec 20 will know. Thank you.

By location alone, I'd have to consider it haha.

Temple = questionable section of Philly

PCOM = suburban bliss 😉

Partially true.

IME PCOM has stronger academics than Temple.

QUESTIONABLE area of Philly??? Nothing questionable about it. Temple is in the absolute worst part of Philadelphia.

Now THATS true.

Now THATS true.

LOL I was trying to put it mildly so I didn't insult anyone with their heart set on Temple.

Do PCOM and Temple both utilize Geisinger for clinical rotations? I seem to recall a thread about this... maybe I'll try that search feature haha.

JP, have you ever rotated through York Hospital with PCOM? It's in my hometown and I was just wondering what that experience would have been like... I havne't ever volunteered there, although I did apply for an internship last summer (got rejected... they only selected 6 and 3 of them had doctor parents who worked there..👎 )

You were also accepted at Temple, weren't you. Picking PCOM over Temple?

This is surprisingly common at PCOM. I know of at least 7 people in my class that did just this. PCOM had the better facilities academics and such.

Didn't mean to imply by my question that it would be an unusal choice. Was just curious as to whether she had already made that decision.

I think people will hear very soon.

Does PCOM call people about acceptances?

I am also interviewing on the 12/20, any thoughts on if we'll hear by mid-January or end of January?

We use some of the same hospitals as Temple students...Geisinger may be one of them. We have several rotations there.

In fact, PCOM has an agreement with Geisinger where a 3rd year student can sign on to do ALL of their core rotations there and basically live there for the year.

Some other hospitals where we interact with Temple students: Abington & Northeastern.

I have not been to York myself but I know people who have. Smaller hospital but I cant recall any bad stories. York has at least one past POMA president that I know of and I think they have a few osteopathic residency programs as well.

I will sell my soul for an interview. It's official. :meanie:

Keep in mind that there is an osteopathic hospital in York which is smaller and not the regional trauma center: Memorial Hospital. I've gotta say I am not sure whether I would be thrilled to rotate through there, but York Hospital is pretty nice. It's owned by Wellspan which pretty much has a monopoly on health care in the whole area.

Skatalite, may I ask when you interviewed? Thanks.

Well, I just withdrew my application, so there is one less application you have to compete with. 😉 GOOD LUCK!:luck:

I interviewed on Dec 7th, anyone else from that date hear already?

I didn't know they called people to offer admission. Seems like everyone else found out via snail mail.

By the way, sorry to hear you had the misforutne to go to Me-cheat-agin.

they generally don't call unless you know someone at the school (faculty or such) and that person wants to give you the information.

True, but we don't rely on alumni refs making phantom calls/non-calls or adding non-existent time back on the clock for success.

We seem to have lost our focus here...

Hey guys,
I interviewed on the 11th and got my "your applicaiton is on hold, the committe is going to delay making a decison" letter today. So , I know they met on the 12th and they were able to review the 11th's group.
Good luck to everyone!
Marcia

I was also put on HOLD today, I was wondering if anyone knows what this means. Is this a waitlist? Or something else? Any information would be great thanks.

I have a feeling this means waitlist.

GOT IN

PCOM, here I come

anyone know if this waitlist status has any chance of acceptance?

They do indeed tap the waitlist each year. Not sure how many but I know of people who were originally waitlisted.

I interviewed at PCOM in late October and got a letter that said they would wait to make a decision until my fall semester grades were released. I sent my transcripts from my grad program before christmas, and was told that my transcript was recieved sometime between christmas and new years. Does anyone know when the next Adcom meeting at PCOM will be held. I think the last one was around December 12. Do they meet once a month or every 3 weeks. Any info would really decrease the stress! Thanks!!

For those that got in, did you submit a letter of recommendation from a DO or MD? There's a DO in the clinic at my school, but it's a psychiatrist so I doubt I could shadow her. Thanks for the help.

To Nickelpennykid: I believe the adcoms meets 2x a month, around the middle, and at the end of the month.

To rsm220: I had both a LOR from a DO and a MD. They strongly suggest a letter from a DO, so its best if you have one.
