So I have accessed nucleus/PCOM email. There is a link for the financial aid application. Has anyone else filled it out? I'm confused about the direct loan program.

Did u finish all the application process such as background check, health check, drug scan,... in order to have your PCOM account?

I've already sent in my medical history questionnaire, new student enrollment form, technical standards, ACPE signature, and deposit.

I have not done the drug test/chain of custody and proof of health insurance thing yet and as far as I know I'm waiting for something to let me know when I can access my email.

haha, I should probably shoot somebody in adcom an email.

I hope this isn't a stupid question. How and when did you get your username and password?

the school randomly called me Friday around 5:30 and told me...they said we should be getting our binders soon. I'm guessing that has all the new student info

How close is PCOM to Mercer? I'll be going to Mercer in August and apparently the schools are pretty close, no? Did they tell you guys anything about VIP day at the capitol? I think students from UGA, South, Mercer, and PCOM will be attending this year.

GA-PCOM is about 20 minutes from Mercer's Atlanta campus.

Student's from all the pharm schools in the state are invited to participate in VIP day by the Georgia Pharmacy Association (GPhA). It's a good opportunity to get involved in the state. GPhA offers students several opportunities to get involved with pharmacy practice in the state. It's a great opportunity to meet students from other schools as well.

Students get membership in GPhA by joining their school's Academy of Student Pharmacists (ASP) chapter of the American Pharmacist Association (APhA).

Congrats and good luck!!

JM, Pharm.D, MBA

Well I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who attends VIP day then! Even though it's nearly a year away... lol I'm excited about starting school and moving to Georgia.

Thanks for the info. Btw, is it required for a pharm STudent to have a health insurance. I just received an email that asked for my health insurance info :I

no, it came separately. i got mine like last week
Are you able to get drug test with your doctor and have insurance pay for it? Where do you get criminal background check? Is the PCOM email account same as the account to access your application to make sure they received all your documents?

hmm..the drug test is free when you bring the labcorp form that they send you. just go to a center near you. Criminal background check is done at mystudentcheck.com. just tell them wehre you want it sent and pay it. it's like 50 bucks

you do not need fingerprinted to have criminal background check? State police department, federal building would know about background check? So you pay 50 bucks to this website to have it done?

lol no you don't need to be fingerprinted. yes. pay that site and you will get to see your criminal history in a couple days and the school will get it too

Hey--did anyone else get offered an interview with GA PCOM on 05/14?? Seems pretty late to still be having interviews--do you think its an interview to be on the wait list or do they still have spots open??😕

Can't say for sure, but I just had an interview Friday (4/30) and they are accepting applications through the end of June. It does seem late in the game, but I think they also didn't invite a large number per interview day...my interview day only had 1 other person there.

I have an interview on 5/13 too, I hope they still have a bunch of seats left.

What is the date that all of this stuff is due by? They sent me the packet, but it didn't say what date I had to have it all in by. Do you happen to know?

It should be in the packet, on the actual acceptance letter. I believe its 2 weeks to have your deposit/new student enrollment form/ACPE signature/technical standards in to the GA campus.
I think you have 8 weeks to send your medical history questionnaire + immunization records + lab results in to the PA campus.
After they receive your deposit they'll send you your chain of custody/drug test form and instructions for the criminal background check through mystudentcheck.com.
After they receive that I think you'll finally get your student binder + classes you're missing + instructions for orientation and how to activate your email account through nucleus. your financial aid info should be in your PCOM email account.

I think the chain of custody and drug need to be done within 2 weeks of receipt as well.

A lot of this is my best guess so if anyone knows otherwise please correct me!!!

Those that got an interview, did you get a pharmacist recommendation and GPA and PCAT scores and other stats?

labcorp is supposed to fill that out and send it out. not you.

So, what do I do with the two copies? Keep them ? 😛

lol labcorp was supposed to only give you back one copy(copy 5). they keep the other ones. you already did the test right?

I did the test, they gave me back 2 copies of the form (one green-for student, one blue-for employer). Do I keep the student one, and send PCOM the employer one?? I have no idea. 😕

Hey what number did you call and who did you talk to? I am trying to make sure they send nothing to my old address and have e-mailed and called (GA campus) and have gotten no reply. I of course changed my address with the post office but it's not always enough! Thanks 🙂

hey someone from the GA campus called me from this number: 770-962-4888.

Has anyone that interviewed after 4/14 heard anything about acceptance? :scared:

Also, does anyone know how many have been accepted to date? I don't know if anyone would, but I am curious!

I wish my letter would just get here already! :xf: it is a large envelope!

I interviewed on the 4/14 and was accepted on the 4/24. I know of at least 3 others that were in my group that have been accepted. I joined the PCOM group Class of 2014 on their server today and it contains 69 members. That number does include faculty members. So if you subtract 8 to 10 faculty, there are probably around 15 seats still available in the class. Of course some people who have paid their deposits could still accept other offers. I sure wish you luck!:luck:

oh and i just found a 1bed/1bath apartment for $617.50/mon with century riverside apartments.

it was actually 650 but they offer pcom students a discount. is anyone else thinkin of stayin here? it's like 5 miles from the campus.

has anyone found better prices/ closer to campus?

i don't know about u guys but I think it would be freakin awesome if we all lived in the same apartment complex.

Thats pretty sweet, did you read any reviews on the place yet? The reserve at sugarloaf got the best reviews ( and is the most expensive i've seen so far)

i just went on the facebook group and only saw 22 members

The 70 people Mission was referring to are actual confirmed members for the class of 2014 apart of PCOM's official listserve, the facebook group was created for people to join and communicate ahead of time.

it's not something you join. you're added to it if you're accepted and given a login.

What's the site? I've been accepted and I have no idea what you're talking about! I'd like to see it lol. The only login Ive gotten was from the application materials.

you should get a binder really soon with info about the school and what you need to do. it'll provide you with your username to login to Nucleus (the site we'll use to do school related stuff) i'm sure your former school has somethin similar. there's a link for pharm students under groups, you can get an idea of the roster

I toured Sugarloaf and Colonial Grand at McGinnis Ferry this past Monday. Both were super nice and spacious. Also, they both had washer and dryer in the unit which is good. I think they were like 3 or so miles from school. The price for a 2 bedroom/ 2bath was around $920-950.

Congratulations on the acceptances. I graduated last year and Im looking for new students to rent my house. I thought I would post both on the DO and PharmD forums. I cut and pasted my post from the DO forums. Let me know if anyone has questions:

That sounds freakin awesome. But I would need to find a roommate, or roommates.

Is anyone thinking of moving in to one of these 3 or 4 bedroom houses that the D.O. students are posting on SDN and the facebook group?

Hi everyone! I interviewed at PCOM-GA last week and thought it was fantastic! I hope I get accepted :xf:Just curious...how much is the deposit?

how was the essay writing part of the interview? what questions did they ask you in interview? How many other students interviewed with you and do you know how many more spaces left for those that interviewed?

We were given 30 minutes to write the essay. The topic was fair and medically related. They asked questions to learn my personality during the interview. It was laid back and easy going. There were 4 students interviewing that day, including me. I asked how many spaces were available but they didn't tell me 🙁

$50,000 x 0.01

Thanks. I have a $500 deposit due soon for a school I was already accepted to. I am leaning towards PCOM if accepted but idk when I will hear from them so I have no choice but to pay! I am excited about this school but kinda concerned with the accreditation. I guess I will just have to pray about it. Any advice???
