I dont know about the rest of yall but I've been complete at PCOM for 2 months now....is anyone else feeling that they're taking a while to process apps? I'm afraid to call bc I've heard how unhelpful the admissions dept is. Any comments you have are welcome....I applied to both GA and PA. Thank you in advance!

I haven't had problems reaching the admissions office at PCOM. Like yourself, I hadn't heard back from them in quite a while so I called. Turns out that my app was incomplete and I was missing a LOR.

They told me to fax it in and they are now processing my app.

Good luck!

EDIT:
Forgot to add that they had originally told me my app was complete, but told me it was incomplete when I called them a month later.

Thanks for that, I called and my file is complete....strange....lol. I guess we'll see!

I got an interview invite about a month after being complete. I see you already have an acceptance. Do you prefer PCOM?

I'm not sure if I "prefer" PCOM per say. I have a few friends who go there and LOVE it, I just would like to make sure I explore all of my options before I comit to another school. I've been going on other interviews since my acceptance at NSU but I haven't found anything comparable, and I thought PCOM would def. give Nova a run for their money.

One quick note though, PCOM hasn't received any August scores and I know a lot of the other schools I applied to were just waiting for the newest set of MCRAPs...I guess they just want to see if you go down ahahaha 🙂

I've also been complete at both PCOMs for like two months. Haven't heard a peep. I already have an acceptance at TUCOM, but really want to check PCOM out. If nothing happens by mid-December, though, I'm probably going to have to back out; my $2000 deposit at TUCOM is due then, ugh!

if you already have an accptance @ TUCOM, then how is your deposit due mid-december?

I got my acceptance letter and it says that the $2000 is due withn TWO weeks of my receipt of the letter

I guess I'm lucky in that sense, Nova's is only $750...haha only

Wow. That reallly sucks. Bet they don't mind seeing people withdraw their acceptances.

TU-NV says[ two weeks, but you can easily email Roger and get an extension. I had mine extended over a month more.

Also, I'm bugged that PCOM hasn't said a word to me since becoming complete months ago. Grrrrr😡

I have been complete there for about a month too (delayed bcs apparently they didn't recieve somthing from my advisors) I called today again and they were like you will recieve somthing in your emial when they review your file. What I heard was that they give in state people interviews first, weather this is true or not I don't know but this is fricken annoying I want to hear back from them I would like to see the school.

Yeah, Roger's been extremely helpful and had no problem giving me an extension.

same here--I have been complete since the end of August.

They sent a letter in teh middle of sept, saying that "im complete"

I called a few times around weh they should have gotten MCAT scores and they just said they take a long time to process that and put in in files...

so i have no idea what they are doing now? At least i got into CCOM and LECOM, so now i am leaning towards CCOM unless i hear from PCOM.

Give me a friggin' break! According to your stats, you have 6 acceptances!
There are people on here who would give their right testicle/ovary for ONE acceptance. Are we on a trip down Ego Lane to see how many acceptances we can pick up along the way?

i had to fax my aug MCAT scores there yesterday. apparently they didn't receive them yet (though i sent them twice thru mcat thx). i really hope i get an interview there.

I asked her if I should fax them and she said they needed the official ones any way, but you and I are in the same boat!

They received my MCAT score about a week and a half ago.

If it makes you feel better, GA campus just started interviewing within the last 2 weeks. I think they are going on Southern time down here.

I think I have been complete there for about a month. It should have been sooner, but they didn't get my LOR and I had to have it sent again. I am kind of ambivalent at this point though due to my DCOM acceptance and NYCOM interview. Although, I have heard it is a great school...Good luck to you!:luck:

They told me I am complete but strongly recommend me get a rec from a DO. I had a MD. It's really hard to find a DO to shadow here though 🙁

Sorry😳 It's just that I know PCOM is a great school and I am interested in seeing it.

I disagree with being so hostile here.

Regardless of how many acceptances a person has they are just an entitled (perhaps moreso) to an interview than the next applicant.

Just because someone is a stellar applicant and can collect interviews like other applicants collect wait lists doesnt mean they should pass up opportunities.

If someone has 6 acceptances and visits PCOM for an interview then they must have some qualities that we will look for as well...and perhaps they will leave with a 7th acceptance.

Good luck NjDO...hope to see you on an interview in the near future.

koennen...perhaps you can learn something from your SDN counterparts.

👍 we all apply to A LOT of medical schools to find the right one for us. and interviews are definitely the right time to completely gather your thoughts and feelings about the school. njdo0, don't be sorry about your accomplishments. be proud, you worked hard!

congrats and i hope you get that pcom interview soon. =)

i dont know about the whole in state students getting preference. I've been complete for over a month, called in twice and they say that I'm still in line for review and that they've just started giving out December interviews. Atleast most of you have an acceptance, I'm still waiting to hear for ONE FREAKING INTERVIEW!!! GAAAAAAAHHHHH. ok im done :meanie:

Having gone on a few interviews this year I can say that it really IS hard to know what you're going to think about a school 'til you go to interview day. So I can understand someone wanting to keep shopping if they have the chance to.

The only time it bugs me is if a person knows darn well they would never EVER attend a school they are interviewing at over one they've already been accepted to, no matter what. Then I think they are just wasting everybody's time, including their own.

NjDO0 really wants to see PCOM if he gets the chance - he's been open minded and impressed by every school he's visited so far - so why not??! Good luck to him! :luck:

And good luck to koennen, and to amathew, and to everyone that is interested in hearing from PCOM!

thanks for the support all 😀

---sometimes I feel like i'm too easily impressed, hehe, but at the end of the day I know what schools really have it going for them

Based upon most of what I read on here, not much. But thanks for your insightful comments. 🙄 🙄 🙄

Nj...let me know when you come for an interview.

I'll keep an eye out for you on interview day. 😉

With your positive attitude I am sure everything will work out just fine.

I'll keep an eye out for interviews for Philly locals. I will make sure I am free that morning.

Sure it counts.

But I will be checking for koennens interview. I want to make sure I am there that day. 😉

Its the waiting that kills me. I'm a naturally impatient person. This is probably the most torturous process in the world with that personality attribute haha...

good luck on your interview!!!

I received an interview earlier this month and I'm out of state, and was complete mid-august. From what I understood at my interview, they receive about 4000 applications and interview 600. Good luck to you all who are waiting to hear.

JP Hazelton,

I'm just curious--as an MS-V OMM fellow, what are your responsibilities? Is what you do similar to the UNECOM OMM 5th year fellows? Thanks,
Therapy Ball

My last year at PCOM has been 4 months of OMM fellowship (largely teaching and research) and all of my electives that I am squeezing in.

I am not sure what the UNECOM OMM Fellowship is like or how it is divided as far as time.

im a philly local. can you keep an eye out for me as well. and yes, this is such a torturous process. Especially with parents asking you every day whether you heard from a school. I want to go "believe me, if i heard from a school i'd scream so loud you'd hear me" But yea...still waiting....if they've gone through your application and rejected you straight up, does PCOM wait til the end of the application process to tell you that?

I hope that's not the case, but I'm getting so discouraged 🙁

You misread the context of JP's comments. He apparently thinks I have a "bad attitude" based on some of my posts - specifically my annoyance with the person with 6 acceptances in hand bitching about the fact that he hadn't heard from PCOM yet. So his statment that he will "keep an eye out for me" was intended as some sort of veiled threat - like if I get an interview he'll be there that day to make sure to put in a good word for me.

So, bottom line, I guess you don't want JP looking out for you in the same way he'll be looking out for me.

Yeah u were kind of a dick but it's probably just a result of this awful process. I really am so sick of this med school app process.

it's like:

Enough already, interview me, accept or reject me-- just stop this friggin suspense! uggghhhhhh! +pissed+

back to psych research methods...test in 3.5 hrs.

Good. That will save me some money if I get an interview invite. My Italian friends in South Philly charge a pretty penny to take someone out these days.

Not to mention the money they would spend in gas to drive to city ave to take care of things. 😀
