There really hasn't been much in the way of new, innovative PDA software for several years.
Agreed, but sad. I've toyed with getting an iPod Touch but I want to see how the medical software pans out (I don't want to get an iPhone until it can run with someone other than AT&T).
But here's a few picks for pediatric related stuff (
www.pediatricsonhand.com seems to be getting a little stale, but still has some good reviews) mostly:
Bili Tool (free)-google it
Riley Kidometer ($12)google it
Pedi Suite (for me; $46), FP Suite ($46) or ER Suite ($65) for you.
Shots 2008 (free)-www.medicalwizards.com
I found this nice set of free dental health PDA programs (3 modules: adult, infant/child, and emergencies), but I can't seem to find where to download it right now.
Growth-BP (free)-www.statcoder.com
General stuff I like:
Epocrates (free)
Eponyms (free)
Medcalc (free)
Mobile Merck is decent-OK for peds stuff for me, but I really like the lab section (free)
MentSTAT (free)
If your facility has an institutional subscription to imedicine (the pay version of emedicine) the entire PDA dowload content is available for nada. emedicine.com is one of the best online references of its type (I think a bit better than Up To Date a lot of the times), and this is one of the best deals going.
And of course, good games for the downtimes (or for that extra 5 minutes you spend on the crapper to avoid the ward)
A few of my faves:
Crosswords (free)
http://xwords.sourceforge.net/
Pyramid solitaire (free)
Vexed (free)
and get a Tetris clone
Oh, and "BlueDog" what is up with a few of the more iconic SDN members here changing their handles (You, Winged Scapula)?!? You hiding something
😛?
