Hey guys, Im interested in doing radiology specifically interventional. Im on my peds rotation and am definitely taking a liking to working with kids and I was wondering what it takes to be a pediatric interventional radiologist. From what I'm reading its not really an official fellowship and I was just curious if anyone else knew anybody else that had gone down this path.

can't really imagine a niche for a peds interventionalist. maybe there's a handful at the big childrens hospitals, but it seems like you'd spend your entire day retrieving foreign bodies and putting in PICC lines.

I will be doing an IR fellowship that has at least a month of pediatric IR, which is all I think I will need in private practice. If you want to do just Peds IR, then yes, you'll probably want to do an IR fellowship, as well as a Peds fellowship. You will probably be "stuck" at a children's hospital and depending on how busy it is, you might have to help out with the diagnostic stuff too, so it seems that most places will want that Peds Fellowship as well.
