I read recently that the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG) had reached some kind of agreement with BPS to investigate the possibility of there being a board-certified Pediatric Specialty.

Does anyone know how long it takes for this kind of thing to go from the investigation stage to the first certified residencies stage?

The most recent specialty added was AmCare. It seems to me that it took about 3 years from when I heard of the serious possibility, to the actuality. Of course, those same 3 years were the time it took from p1-p4, so the setting may have had more to do with it than the actual time frame. A more senior pharmacist will probably know better.

They are currently working on a Peds and Critical Care exam. It takes about 3 yrs.

Thanks! I had no idea there were already pediatric PGY-2 residencies. In that case, my question is in regards to how long it will take before we see a BPS certification for peds.

Karma mentioned 3 years.

Other PGY-2s correct me if I'm wrong, but most places will hire you with a PGY-2, being able to complete it is proof enough that you got what it takes for that specialty. For those who didn't do a PGY-2, then a board certification would be that proof they need.
