When does the west coast start interviewing?
 
first yr pedo res @ nebraska.

only know of 2 interview dates
10/26 (basically this day they interview all the in-staters)
11/2 (for loco outta staters considering nebraska ;p j/k its not that bad here)

im open for questions.

Anyone out there know anything about Nova peds? I have been hearing some bad things about their program from both residents and faculty and was wondering if others have heard the same.
 
Anybody know what day Pedo Match is this year? I thought it was the second Wednesday of January, but I may be mistaken.
 
so when's the date when we have to rank all the programs on match and how do we do that?? 😕

I had a program call me on my cellphone today and request that I FEDEX them a 2X2 picture as soon as possible. I would like to think this is a good sign,and it's from a very good program. Has anybody else had this request?

Received my first DENIAL today! Won't be going to the Ohio State University. Not sure what they're looking for; I thought my class rank and part I score were pretty competitive. Not sure what else they are looking at to determine who gets an interview. Whatever it is, I guess they thought I didn't have it. Hope everyone else is hearing better news....it has been awhile for me.

Are you a resident of Ohio? I applied to OSU and Cincinnati but have received neither denials nor invites even though I confirmed with them that my app was complete several weeks ago. Anyone have any ideas about what the deal is?

Guess Tennessee isn't done with invites, call today for Oct. 26th. Said the other days are available, but they would "strongly prefer" to see me on the 26th.

Now you can testify as to how competitive pedo is (well, not really, that statement can only be made after match day, but at least you know now that nothing is a sure thing).

Yeah, there's no way they could possibly select you for an interview without a picture!
 
I was a bit surprised that every program needed a photo. I like to think that it is just easier to get the feel of an applicant if you can put a face to their info, but I have been told by professors, who have been on admissions boards at other schools, that it is their way of getting around having to ask your race. How they might use that would certainly vary and I don't know how valid this info is, but its out there. Good luck, troops.
 
When do the west coast pedo schools start calling for interviews? (ie. UCLA, USC, Loma Linda, UCSF)

I received email from Loma Linda saying my app was complete and they would contact interviewees after the PASS deadline (Oct 15). UCSF just sent emails regarding whether apps are complete or not. No word from the UCLA Venice or Westwood programs.

I just got a letter in the mail today from LSU granting me an interview. The interview is Friday, October 26th and Saturday, October 27th.

Did UCLA Venice get the accreditation?

Nov. 6th (7th for Yakima), or 27th (28th). Dinner evening before.

Sometimes they don't contact you at all, or they contact you late. I received several rejections last year after the match date.

Are you applying from school or have you been out practicing? I did an externship at OHSU during the summer and in the first 10 minutes (while talking to the director) found out they have never accepted an applicant straight out of school. At least, since the program re-started a few years ago. But who knows, just an FYI.
