Pedo Interviews 2018

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does everybody who post here has interviews in all these places? or is everybody just trying to keep track of all the interviews?
No lol, it's just a list to keep track of which programs have sent invites. The bolded program is the program at which the poster received an interview.

I've heard from other people on the interview trail that University of Mississippi has had their interviews this past week.

If anyone (preferably a female, but doesn't have to be) is going to Boston Children's Interview on 12/1 and wants to share a room send me a private message! I'm checking in 11/30 and checking out 12/2 (since we have a 2nd social on Friday night) at the hotel they suggested in the e-mail. They have free cancelation if you already reserved your room =)

Has anyone heard from Woodhull hospital or Staten Island Hospital

Does anyone know if Rutgers or Univ of Washington allow their first year residents to moonlight? Any current or previous residents please.

HELP! Looking for someone to switch Yale interview dates with me. Need to go on 12/4. Currently going on 11/20. Please PM me if you are willing to switch :)
Thank you.

Someone posted some statistics a while ago about # of interviews and matching and it seemed like the magic number was 6.

I met someone on the interview trail that had 7 interviews last year and didn’t match. Anyone know someone that had more than 7 interviews but still didn’t match? Just curious.

I know two people through my interview process last yr .... on girl had 8 and she didn’t match anywhere, other girl she was LSU ..she had few very impressive school on her interview list of 6 or 7 can’t remember and she didn’t match last yr.....this yr I met a chief resident in a program he had only two and he got in ..... so my opinion there is no magic number ...... it’s just who liked u the most .......

Yes I agree. Looking at statistics can get a little sticky because everyones statistics aren't the same, and just because someones statistics are better than another doesn't mean they will have a better chance. It just depends on what the program is looking for and if it's a great fit both ways. I met a girl who had 3 interviews and received 1 invite.

Has anyone heard anything from Children’s Hospital of Michigan?

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

Take this with a grain of salt but I heard during the trail something about them not having enough funding or the possibility of not taking new residents.

Hello everyone, I heard that Geisinger Hospital is recruiting pediatric dental residents for the year 2018. Their tentative date for interviews is January 5,2018. Please contact their program coordinator for more details.

I thought deadline for that program was October

Is anyone else finding it super difficult to rank the programs they interviewed at? How will you choose? Gut instincts? Location? Reputation of the program?

So Children's Hospital of Michigan just sent an e-mail saying they are going to delay their interviews until after match

reputation of the program and then tuition fees

I’ve been finding it difficult to rank my top programs. My favorite program is far away in a more expensive city verses ranking a program close to “home” where the cost of living is cheaper and I’ll have reliable childcare.

Just go with your gut. The MATCH is a goofy thing. At the end of the day, 2 years goes quick. It’ll all work out.

Hi! Just wondering if anyone else who interviewed at Nebraska knows the holiday vacation schedule. I know they give 15 days off, but I can not remember if other time is given off for holidays or based on the University of Nebraska schedule.

Does anyone know if the Program Directors already know who matched into their programs ? Or do they find out tomorrow too?

I believe they find out at the same time as us tomorrow. Friends who graduated last year said they got emails around 8 AM... who's psyched?!
Hi free99- which time zone are you in?

Anyone know when the post match schools usually will get into contact with us?

Sorry, I meant once we contact them, usually how long before they respond back?

Can someone share a list of unmatched spots? Thank you!

University of Louisville 1 spot (filled)
NYU Langone - Brooklyn,NY 5 spots
NYU Langone - Providence, RI 2 spots
Cohen Children’s Medical Center of NY 1 spot (filled)
New York University (1 spot)
Case Western Reserve University (2 spots)

Random question: Does anyone know if you are at a NYU Lutheran/Langone AEGD and are considered a PGY-1 then match to a NYU Lutheran/Langone pediatric dental residency, will you receive PGY-2 stipend as a first year pediatric resident since you were already an AEGD PGY-1 resident? I am not sure about how this classification works.

Just wondering if anyone can speak for the NYU Langone Brooklyn Program ? Any idea why they didn’t fill their spots?

Hey everyone! I'm a current GPR resident at Helen Hayes Hospital and my director asked me to give a quick overview of our program on here =) HHH is a fantastic residency for pediatric resident hopefuls (and he always takes residents post match on purpose!) We exclusively treat patients with special needs (intellectually disabled, medically compromised, psychiatric disorders, etc). We are in the operating room 2x/week treating about 10 patients a week under general anesthesia. By the time you graduate you will have approximately 200 GA cases for the year, which looks great on a resume for pedo! You also get to take classes at Columbia University with the pediatric director and first year pediatric residents at Columbia. In addition to these classes you will also have the opportunity to TA for Population Oral Health class at Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health. This GPR opened many doors for me this year as far as pedo applications go. I had 14 interviews and matched at an amazing Children's Hospital. If you didn't get in this year and are looking for another option you should definitely consider this residency program!

My directors name is Dr. Marc Michalowicz and his email is michalowiczm (INSERT AT symbol here) helenhayeshosp (INSERT DOT HERE)org
Phone #: 845 786 4289
Program location: Helen Hayes Hospital55US-9W, West Haverstraw, NY 10993
(you must be able to travel into the city on Wednesdays for Columbia, public transportation is an option)
Number of positions: 2 (1 spot remaining)
Call Schedule: at home call. HHH is a rehab hospital so there is no emergency room call. (not an issue at all! Feel free to email me with any questions regarding this)
Stipend: ~$54,000 (I think!) before taxesAttendings are VERY used to residents applying to pedo and are super accommodating with giving you time off for interviews.
  • Just e-mail him your CV and a quick blurb about applying and you should be good to go!

Good Luck!

Just found this thread... so if you matched and want to help those in the next application cycle with how you did it here is your chance :) congrats everyone

PEDS MATCH RESULTS 2018

Can someone share a list of unmatched spots? Thank you!

I heard through the grapevine that there is a new Pedo residency at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY. Apparently they are trying to recruit residents for their first class to start this July. For anyone who’s looking for a post match spot maybe try giving them a call!

For those of you who have gone through pedo interviews, how important do you think the night before socials are for the NYU Langone schools?
