Penn State Notification

Just in case anyone who interviewed at Penn State within the last month was curious, I emailed them to ask if we would be notified around October 15th as to our status. They just emailed me back and said we will receive notification in about 6-8 weeks......so we're looking more at Nov. 15th than Oct. 15th. Hopefully I hear from someone in October because the suspense is torture.

I remember you posting that you interviewed at Buffalo as well. Do you know off hand when Buffalo will start notifying us of our acceptances?

As far as I know, Buffalo is sending out it's first batch of notifications on October 15th, then they send out new notifications including updated waitlists every 8 weeks for the rest of the year.

Oh god no!!!! PSU is the only rolling school I've interviewed at so far, and the only one that has the chance of notifying my by Oct. 15. I was really counting on them to come through for me. PLEASE let this be wrong!

I'm pretty sure this sounds accurate....remember at lunch the day of our interview, the one medical student said they hadn't even put together the admissions committee yet. That was just a week ago, so I think 6-8 more weeks sounds about right. Unlike most rolling admissions schools, it seems PSU waits to review everyone's file at the same time during each notification period, rather than at the end of the day after interviews are over. Therefore, it takes longer to receive notice.

Ah well, at least it's still extremely early as most med schools go. I'm pulling for thanksgiving. Hopefully we'll have a lot of thanks to give!

Yeah, but at lunch the med student that was on the committee (the 2nd year) told me that we would definitely make both the first review and the Oct. 15 mailing. I hope he's right...
