Hi Everyone,
I did a search but didn't really find anything, so I thought I'd try a new post... To those who have applied to Penn State, does anyone have a timeframe as to how long it took for you to hear back once you were complete? I saw in my search that some people's status page got updated to "continuing review", but mine hasn't changed at all... Anyone get an interview there? If so, did your status page change at all? It says on their website not to call them about status, so I'm trying to aviod it... But I'm getting anxious, since I was complete like 6 weeks ago or so...

I was complete on 9/20, interview invite 9/28. My status page is hopelessly out of date - I don't think you can believe it. I found out I was complete by email, as I recall, and got a phone invite to interview. Good luck!

I've been complete since August 25th and haven't heard anything yet. No "Continue to review" or "Hold status" or anything...I don't know if that makes you feel better or not, but I thought I'd let you know that there are those of us out there who've been waiting even longer to hear... 😱
 
I was complete there in mid-Aug and got an interview invite in early-Sept. My status page still says my application is not complete. The admin office is really good about responding to emails - if you do not want to call them just send a short message. From what I have heard, their admin office is totally swamped right now so I would not worry too much that you have not heard from them yet.
 
I guess it's better to hear nothing than to get a rejection, right? I'm just wondering if I'm better off or worse off than the people who are "continuing to review"...

I'll throw in mine too....

Complete email in early August, interview invite 10/4 by mail. My status page never changed, not even to "complete" after I got the "complete" email.

The good news is that (at least in my experience) they were only booking interviews about 2 weeks out, as opposed to schools that are allready booked into February!!!! 😱
 
There is still hope: I was complete 8/2 and just got an interview invite 11/1. No phone call, just good old fashioned snail mail. Didn't know any schools did invites that way so i thought it was a rejection.

I was submitted my supplemental 7/19, received complete email 8/24, got an interview invite over the phone 8/27, was accepted 10/16 via snail mail. Hope that helps...any other questions about PSU, PM me.

I was complete 8/4. I believe my interview invite came at the beginning of october via snail mail. My interview was scheduled 2-3 weeks later. I didn't even check the status page, so I can't really tell you whether the info there is accurate or not. Best of luck to you~
 
I was complete late august / early sept. Interviewed 10/18. Haven't heard anything yet. Does anyone know when the next round of acceptance is for Penn State?
 
They say 8 weeks for a decision. I interviewed in mid-Sept and got a decision via snail mail last week.
 
Things don't look good for me. I got my "complete" email this morning. I have a long way to go.
 
After a hassle with a letter of recommendation, my file was finally complete sept. 24, and I got an interview invitation (for tomorrow, nov 10) at the end of october, so about a month.
 
Complete the end of August/beginning Sept, invited to interview by email in late September. Interviewed in mid- October.

So took about a month for me too-
 
So, I got an Email from Penn State this morning saying "The Committee on Admissions wants you to know your application is a high priority, and it will definitely contact you as soon as a decision is made."

Did anyone else get a similar E-mail? I've been complete there FOREVER.

Does the email say anything about them "continuing to review your application" or anything about being "probable to review"? This is the first I have heard of your email- they usually email saying you are complete, and then snail mail a decision maybe a month later... Sorry, wish I was more help!
 
I also received the "continue to review" letter and my question is does everyone receive this letter? If not, what are the other categories? Has anyone got straight up rejected from Penn State at this point? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I got the same email and it is as follows:
"The Admissions Committee reviews all completed applications and evaluates them on a random and rolling basis. The Committee wishes you to know that your application is a high priority, and it will definitely contact you as soon as a decision is made."

Since the email is addressed to applicant, it makes me wanna think they send out the email to most people.

No, not everyone receives the "continue to review"- some get phone calls for interviews instead- there is also another category "Probable to review", or something like that- My source tells me that one is just a thinly veiled rejection. I don't believe anyone has been straight up rejected, unless they bombed their interview.

Well what about those of us who haven't heard anything at all? Nothing after the complete e-mail... You think that's worse than a "probable to review"?

No, its not worse, it just means you are still being reviewed- you've only been complete for 7 weeks? I would just relax- Word on these boards is that they are swamped. I think it took six weeks until I received my "continue to review." Good luck! Keep us posted.

It's unfortunate in a way that the *first* thing you do on an internet forum is select your name. Not that I'm unhappy with mine; I still think the whole Doctor Evil thing is pretty funny. I should probably do like dnelson does and just use my own name, David.

Anyway, I interviewed on 10/13 at Penn State, still waiting to hear the results - should be pretty soon, according to what they said on interview day.
 
Anyone heard anything from Penn State lately? I'm probably not being patient enough, but it's been 2 months and I've heard nothing... And the fact that it tells us not to contact them, they will contact you, makes it that much worse...

Nope, nothing here...and I was complete in August! They weren't even going to wait for my retake scores...at this rate, I might as well have told them to!!

PS I like how you picked your screenname. 😉
 
I heard from them via snail mail on 11/12, the letter was dated for 11/4, but it took a week for it to get from Hershey, PA to Baltimore, MD. Go figure. I think it was because it was a holiday somewhere.
 
Completed 11/1, got the interview invite today (even though it was dated 11/16).

Interview scheduled for 12/13....anyone know if the class if full?
 
I got my invite on 11/8 (1st time/August MCATer). I'm going on 12/10...anyone else?

Is the letter saying you're on hold for an interview, and your app is "continue to review", or whatever, just a nice way of telling you you're rejected? I am really hoping for an interview from Penn State, and am wondering what this really means. ?? :luck:

Well, I got the continue to review letter in the mail this weekend... I'll keep you posted with any updates from this point on.
