Hey guys,

What's up? I interviewed at Penn State in mid September and I was wondering if there is a "status check" website where I can see what my status is post-interview. I tried finding the status check on the Penn State website, but was unable to do so. If any of you guys know the link, could you please post a reply. Also, your thoughts on Penn State in relation to what you think of the medical school etc. is welcome. I will appreciate any feedback that I can get.

Thanks,
ishqbina

In case anybody is wondering about Penn State: I just called them and got an incomprehensible response. Something about 4 different committees meeting once a month each, but she also said the committee meets every 6 to 8 weeks, and basically was entirely unhelpful in providing any information whatsoever. I have no clue if they've already had a committee meeting, if they've made any decisions, or if they've sent out any decisions.

It took Penn State over a month to even say I was complete, and had to call a bunch of times for them to find my letter out of their files. It would be very frustrating if I didn't really want to go there.

the status check page is listed on your invitation complete a secondary:

http://sa-hes.hmc.psu.edu

it's just going to say that they will call/mail you a decision

the penn state status page is worthless. i've been complete there for more than a month, and i still don't have an official complete notice from them. penn state was my undergrad too, btw.

wow, that's sad...the fact that it's your undergrad and they still don't care...i shed a tear for you, but only one

i think their committee has been meeting, when i interviewed (in late sept) my interviewer said he had to present someone to committee next week, whatever that means...

I think Penn State has the rudest and least efficient admissions office....theyr'e no help whatsoever!! i'm getting extremely frustrated...grrrrr 😡

I'm sending my LORs to them for the 3rd time (actually my post-bacc school is)! Also, when I call, the woman is super rude over the phone.

i have a few friends who go there, as well as others in the nursing program at hershey. it's actually quite nice, and most of the staff are helpful.. i think more than anything, penn state is more backlogged than many other schools right now (a la drexel) and it's wearing a little thin on people's nerves.

I don't get how their AC can only meet every 6-8 weeks. They interview 8-10 applicants 3 times a week. Wouldn't that mean at each meeting they go over anywhere from 140-240 applicant files? That's either one loooooong meeting or there is no discussion, like each interviewer just writes yay or nay on the file. But maybe there's something more to it they're just not telling us.... 😕

I interviewed there and wasn't that impressed with the whole interview process. I had two interviewers:

1) My first interviewer didn't speak english very well and was very hard to read..

2) My second interviewer rambled on and on about the school's rural location and the negatives of the school - he says the med students all feel they should be spoon fed. WTF??

Anyways, I find it hard to believe that they can make a serious evaluation of me based on those interviews.

I spent a lot of money flying out there and am just disappointed they didn't spend more of the day finding out who I am rather than just taking us on a tour of the hospital (no lecture halls, etc.)

Frankly, I wasn't that impressed.. at this point though, I can't be picky!
