Were a lot of these questions asked?? 😀

Looks like a good set of questions here, any curve ball questions or questions that really made you think? Care to share any interesting ones? THANKS guys 👍 👍 👍 👍

From what I remember these are a few I was asked at various schools:

How do you learn best? - Harvard

Why not medicine and do you think dentistry should be a separate entity from medicine? - UConn

If you were to do any other career besides dentistry what would it be and why?

Tell me something unique about yourself that isnt on your application. - Tufts, Harvard, Columbia, UConn

Why do you think a lot of dentists came from a musical background of some sort? - NYU

What can you contribute to our class? - EVERY SCHOOL!

Tell me about yourself, such as your family dynamics and your role in your family. - Columbia

What do you do to relax or relieve stress in a high pressured situation? - Harvard & UConn

If I were to ask your friends about you what would they say? - Harvard

How would you treat a patient with AIDS? - Temple

Why do you like tennis, and what qualities make a tennis player the best? - Harvard

Why go to Columbia when you have a good chance at getting accepted to UConn which is such a great school and has a cheaper tuition? - Columbia

What are the most drastically changing aspects of the field and what challenges do they present in the coming future? - Harvard

I personally think if you can answer all of these questions you'll be fine. PM me if you want more specs on the schools I interviewed at. Goodluck all!!

I only interviewed at four schools, and the only one that felt like a real interview was Harvard's. Even though it's open file, they ask you mostly those kinds of job interview questions and then a few dental questions.

A few that I remember from Harvard...

  • What was your greatest failure?
  • What was a challenge that you faced, and how did you deal with it?
  • How would your friends describe you?
  • Students are required to do a research project to graduate. What do you think about that? Any field that your interested in for research?
  • What do you plan to do with your dental degree after you graduate?
  • What do you look for in a dental school?

UCSF, UOP, and UCLA's interviews were real chill.

UCSF was a blind interview, so they asked some real, easy general ones like "Why Dentistry?", "What sorts of leadership and community service have you done?", "What do you do for fun?", "Have you done any research?".

UOP started out with "Do you have any questions for me?" So make sure you come with questions prepared! I went to the school a lot, so I knew a lot about it already. The stuff I didn't know were questions specific to the students, so we ended up just shooting the breeze, and even ended early. 😛

UCLA was cool, cuz my faculty interviewer referred to details in my application, asking me about my singing, or my tennis, or about the dentists I worked with. He was the sweetest guy. The student interviewer was a little hard to read. But he was cool, and just kept asking me if I had any questions.

Let me know if you have any specific questions. I'd be glad to help.

Those questions are exactly what they ask. That's a really good list a questions there. How did you get that?
