this is sort of a blanket question, and i know there are deeper factors.. but speaking from your gut and experience, what percentage of fp patients are seen for complications stemming from obseity and smoking? is 30% fair? higher?

I think 30% is far too low for a residency family medicine clinic. For private practice, it's probably also a little low. Try 85% for a residency practice, 60% for a private practice.

wow thats alarming. i am only an ms3, but the im office i rotated through which really was for all purposes an fp seemed to have an awful lot. i was trying to figure out if it were the norm.
most of the staff there were really nice to the patients face to face (which i admired) but really dogged them in private (which i totally understand).
i guess you can only take so much of seeing sick pts who do it to themselves. i would be frustrated too...
