Has anyone here gotten a perfect score?

Is there a level of MCAT that practically assures you of a full scholarship to a good US Medical School (Allopathic)?

1) Not that we know of since the MCAT was revised in 2003.

2) No.

What would be a MCAT score with a 3.5 Overall GPA / 4.0 Science GPA that would be contender for a full scholarship at a top school?

if u get at least a 35 and able to get into the MD/Ph D program, that would be full scholarship right there

Although a good MCAT score may not be a guarantee of successful admission to a med school it still something you should master. The score itself and heck …even successful admission doesn’t guarantee you a successful learning process or even graduation. Most students struggle with high volume of information they need to remember (very specific and unique for med students than for those in any other discipline – special terminology, Latin, etc) If you want to start it off right and spare yourself from countless hours of drilling then find a good mnemonic technique (try this one) – build it into your brain in order to prepare it for memorizing in large volumes.

If you're defining "top school" as a school ranked in the top 10, then I'd say that you should feel fortunate even getting in with a 3.5 overall GPA.

There's no MCAT score that even guarantees you acceptance into any good medical schools.

Hey BigRedPremed,

I was looking at your MDapps and just wanted to say that it is looking good. Is there anything that you are planning on doing extra between now and next summer that you are adding on that list of ECs??? Where are you planning on applying or are you still trying to figure that out???

Good luck!!

I'm in a tutoring kind of mode. I'm currently tutoring for 3 classes at Cornell and will be tutoring/mentoring disadvantaged kids next sem (undergoing training right now). Outside of that, maybe tack on a few extra hospital hours. I hate hospital volunteering but unfortunately the hospital I volunteer at demands a 2 semester commitment.

I'll be hitting the west coast/east coast pretty hard. My GPA is great, EC's are okay, MCAT's unbalanced, and recs will probably be mediocore so I'd take pretty much any med school in CA or maybe NYC.

Nah that's a good MCAT score breakdown. Its not necessarily unbalanced as it seems right now. I've seen worse. 12 and 15 in the sciences is above 90th percentile, with 15 obviously being in 99th percentile. I believe 12 is like somewhere close to 95th percentile.

10 is not in the 90th percentile or above but it is still high. So you shouldn't have a problem.

ECs look good and with extra stuff you are doing you'll be in a good position. I forsee you getting in some of the good East coast schools as well as many of the Cali schools.

OP, there is NO GPA or MCAT score combination that guarantees you anything in this process. Concentrate on making your app as strong overall as you can, and don't worry right now about scholarships. They are MUCH harder to get for med school than they are for college, and no one should count on getting one regardless of how strong their stats are. After you've been accepted to one or more schools, then you can start filling out your financial aid forms and inquiring about merit scholarships. But again, no one should count on receiving one.
