Corollary to Noyac's thread

Been thinking about a combo of Scheduled CCM, say 1 week on, 1 week off.

Also do LT anesthesia 1 week a month or so.

Is someone like this attractive to an anesthesia group where they don't have to pay benefits, make partner, etc but they are able to deal with a reliable, known entity?

Thx, Dre'

Most groups see locums docs as losers and necessary evils and treat them appropriately.

Physicians with some Locum experience may be seen as undesirable by undesirable employers because they know that if the job, the pay or the working conditions deteriorate they can call the locums agency and be working somewhere else in less than 30 days. Undesirable employers find physicians with locums experience threatening since they desire employees they can victimize. If an employer conceders your locums experience as undesirable perhaps you need to investigate why since with a little detective work you will soon find out that they are an undesirable employers out to make a victim out of you.

The first time you worked there, you would be on LT. After that, if there is a "non-compete", you could make an independent contract, thereby saving them money in fees right?

Why do you want to do LT for 1week/month? Is it to travel?

Keep in mind being booked all the time while doing locums is not that easy. You will need to be registered with several agencies and have many state licenses.

If traveling is not the reason, you might be better off getting a Perm position where they allow you to work 1week/month

Just trying to brainstorm options, think outside the box. Want to do CCM for my main job and enough anesthesia to stay a ROKstar, if I am ever to attain that hallowed level like Jet et al, and to subsidize my time in the ICU, salary and vacation wise.

Yes, I would love to find a cool OR gig that wanted me for 1-2 weeks a month, scheduled. I have no inherent interest in the LT gig, just thought I might have to do it that way.

I dont want people thinking I am a flake or subpar because I LT. I just dont want kids and want to balance CCM and OR with adequate vacations to trash my knees before I am 50.

THx for the feedback! dre'
