Anyone expand on short term and long term professional goal part... i'll be mucH graTefuL...

Are you asking to be told this information? I think it's subjective and therefore you should be able to come up with how pharmacy is involved in your short and long-term goals. I just don't think it's something anyone else can tell you.

If I've misunderstood your request, feel free to let me know.

I'm in the process of applying myself. I think the long term goals are more like what type of pharmacist you want to be. I think they want to know that you researched the profession. I'm not quite sure what they mean by short-term goals, but I guess it's really up to you. I don't think there's a "right" answer. They probably want to just know what your goals are.

i'm confused on what i am supposed to write for the short term goals also. please help me. and just wondering, how long was everybody elses personal statements? pharmcas says 4500 characters including spaces but thats about 1.5 pages single spaced, i have written only 1 page so far but i only have 3000 characters...and are personal statement supposed to be in paragraph form?

You don't have to explicitly state "my short term goals are..." or "my long term goals are...". As long as you have 2 different time frames covered, you are okay. You could talk about things you want to do during school and after school is out. Or you could talk about what you want to do right after school and where you think you might be in 20 years. The whole point is that you show the AdCom that you are thinking about what you are going to do when you finish school, not just about getting in.

Keep in mind that nobody expects you to plan out your entire life during this essay. Think in terms of areas of interest. Telling the AdCom that you only want to practice in one specific area is just another way of stating that you are not interested in learning about the many other practice settings. Having areas of interest, but being open to new ideas as you go through school will help you get the most out of your education. And, it will help your application more than a strong committment to a single practice area.

Unless there is only one subject for the essay, it should be divided into paragraphs.

Good luck everyone! 🙂

I would be glad to read your personal statement and offer feedback. Please PM me and I will send you my e-mail address.

Just a side note...
I recently added a paragraph on to the end of the FAQ section on personal statements, that explains why you should proofread your personal statement for spelling and grammatical errors before having someone else critique it. I hope everyone who is writing their PS has checked out the FAQ section on it. 🙂
