OK, so I'm trying really, really hard to get this stupid ERAS out... just trying to clean up my personal statement. I was wondering what you all have heard about the average numer of characters (or words) for the personal statement. ERAS allows 32,000 characters with spaces which is a CRAZY amount so I'm having difficulty judging what's too long.

So, any ideas on what is a good length?

Thank a million!

You can submit your ERAS without your PS.

It should fit on 1 page on the ERAS form which is about 1 page typed in word. The advice which I actually found most helpful was before you were going to post it you should save it in *.txt format because thats how it will look in the ERAS format. I noticed that apostrophes came up all funny other wise. Other advice is to use 4 or 5 spaces instead of tab to begin new paragraphs due to formatting issues.

Is there any sort of penalty for submitting an incomplete application (aside from incomplete LORs)? Can you update or change your application after you've submitted it?
