so i applied via pharmcas already for early decision and in it i included a great personal statement. now i got a supplemental application from the school i applied to and they want another personal statement...do i give them the same one i gave pharmcas, give them a totally new one, or do i just improvise my pharmcas one??? thanks!!

You should look at the school's required essay as another opportunity for the admissions committee to get to know you. I wouldn't use the same essay because then they will not learn anything new about you. But you may want to check with the school to see what they say about it.

I know that for some of the schools I am applying to it is difficult because the supplemental essay topic is very similar to the PharmCAS topic. But I'm trying to pick a different aspect of myself to focus on for each essay so that they will get a more complete picture.

Hope this helps 🙂

As gruniongal has said - it's a good opportunity to tell the admissions committee more about you. You could use your current PS as an outline and provide more details about your experiences (more things you learned/experienced and how that influenced you to choose pharmacy). You could also use this chance to tailor it specifically to the school, if there's anything special at the school and that just so happens to be something you really want to do. You could talk about other reasons for choosing pharmacy that you left out in your statement such as - lifestyle desires, your dissatisfaction with your old job (if you had one), why you didn't pick other types of health professions, etc etc.

But remember to not stray from the topic. Only answer the prompt question!!

Free do-over. Don't pass up the chance to improve the original or re-do it altogether to make it more personal to the school asking for it.
