Is it ok to refer to the doctor of pharmacy as Pharm.D. in the personal statement or do you need to write it out each time? Also is it necessary to capitalize pharmacy when you say things like Pharmacy school or Pharmacy profession?

I had the same questions when I wrote my personal statements. The writing counselours at my school's Writing Center said that after saying "Doctor of Pharmacy" once in my statement, I should refer to it at Pharm.D. for the remainder of the document. [The format should be like this - "I want to get a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) because blah blah blah. Not only will a Pharm.D. allow me to blah blah blah"]. I never capitalized pharmacy unless it was part of a title of a school or the degree. I hoped this helped somewhat - you might want to check with a writing professor for such technical questions, they might have better insight in this stuff. Good luck!

Use PharmD! There is, after all, a character limit. You could miss out on a few extra strong sentences if you write out Doctor of Pharmacy instead of PharmD. Obviously, your target audience (the admissions committee) will know what it means.
