Hey guys -

I just realized that I need to get new tags for my kitties who are leaving for Ross with me in (ack!) two weeks! I remember reading an article a few weeks ago on really good ones but I absolutely cannot remember exactly when or where I read it. So, I need some suggestions about where I can get really good tags and get them fast!

Thanks so much!

I don't know how good their tags are, but the Wal-Mart and PetSmart near my house both have these little machines that make them instantly, and you can put whatever you want on them. So I'd check those two places. If someone else has used them and can vouch for their quality, please chime in; all I know is that they're quick and easy. 😉 The only tags I ever had made were in Disneyworld, s I think that may be a bit of a commute for you. 😛

Are you getting nervous about coming down? I don't really know what I can say to prepare you- everyone in my orientation group was surprised when they first got here. It might be a pleasant or unpleasant surprise, but I think that it'll definitely catch you off guard. 😉

Okay, I'm gonna stop procrastinating now and study for my one remaining final. Maybe. 🙄 😳

I purchased mine from an eBay store: http://shop.ebay.com/pet_pamper/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=#item2c5034d804

The tags are $10 and is shipped free worldwide. They are based out of Australia. My dog is four and a half and the only reason I had to buy another one is because we moved. I also don't hang her rabies tag with this tag as I think on their site it says not to. You can really personalize it. I have received sooo many compliments on it! They also have a website they sell on: www.petpamper.com.au It is a few cents cheaper and easier to customize your order immediately. Maybe you can get it mailed to your Ross address if they can't get it to you in time here.

I love my dog's tag!

I LOVE, LOVE my Red Dingo tags.

They're fun, colorful, and most importantly are pretty durable. The large ones are REALLY big, so definitely not for kitties. The small ones are pretty tiny and may not work for you if you need a lot of information. Mine just has my cat's name and my telephone number on it and that fits fine and it readable. Might be able to fit one more line of text on it.

As an aside, if you ever need a temporary tag in a hurry, you can make them yourself out of shrinky dinks paper. I've done this to make decorative tags, but they don't last forever because the plastic can break. Here's one I made, though someone with better drawing skills could make a nicer one.

i made mine at pet smart and they are really durable, reasonably priced, and are made by the machine right in front of you. you could have them within minutes. if you don't have a petsmart, as mentioned above, walmart has the same machine. hopefully you can find a machine near you!

i like the red dingo ones though, i might have to look into those. 🙂

My kitties just have the ones from a Petco store machine, and they're held up really well so far. You can put up to three lines of info on them I believe.

I love, love, love my Red Dingo tags. They take a beating and last forever. I ordered them through the vet clinic I work for, and received them 1 week after faxing the order in.

And actually, I like the drawing on the homemade tag!!

I have Boomerang Collar Tags on all of my pets. I like them because there's no way they can fall off unless the whole collar comes off, they don't get dragged through food/water/litter/dirt/whatever gross stuff your pet likes to sniff and eat, and they don't make annoying jingling noises at all hours of the night.

edit: They also have a lifetime (of the pet) guarantee for their tags. If at any point it breaks or becomes illegible they will send a new one free of charge.

The example tag when you click on the link has the pet's name as "Butkug." LOL there's an original name for the next animal I meet at the shelter!

Just to add another tag suggestion, I got a monogrammed collar for my dog. I think that would be excellent for cats so they don't have those little dangly tags hanging off ready to catch on something. It was pretty cheap and lasts as long as the collar lasts! I put his name and his phone number on it.

Oooh! Those are great! I think I'll get some of those for the collars they just wear around the house... the tags do drive me a bit nuts at night, and I'm sure they drive them nuts when they eat or drink. (They have to have other tags on when they go out though, and for when they go to the clinic with me.)

I also LOVE the Boomerang tags. They are really durable (I have two Aussies and before buying these, they lost more tags than I can count!), they hardly scratch and never fall off (even if you get the ones that dont fit around the color. Also they came in the mail SUPER fast. Two thumbs up!!
