PGF2a - causes vasoconstriction or not?

For OBGYN (Step 2), when you've got postpartum bleeding (usually due to uterine atony), you first do uterine massage and give dilute oxytocin. If that doesn't work, you try PGF2alpha, methylergonovine or rectal misoprostol.

The fact that you'd give PGF2alpha to reduce uterine bleeding suggests it's a vasoconstrictor.

Simple Google search also says vasoconstriction: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6608748

PGF causes vasoconstriction, along with PGA. PGF is also associated with the following:
-dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation)
-is the cause of separation of the placenta after fetal delivery.
-present in semen. This is why patients who are over 37 weeks and overdue are told to have intercourse with their spouse, so the semen cause the patient to go into delivery..odd but true.

Prostaglandins E-2 and I-2 cause vasodilation (E-2 has some vasoconstrictor effects as well).
