Hello. Would one be limiting his/her chances of doing a PGY-2 residency if he/she completed a non-ASHP accredited PGY-1 residency? It seems that completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 program is a requirement for application to most PGY-2 residencies. Thank you.

It seems you've already answered your own question.

Good luck.

Actually, I contacted ASHP directly and was instructed to fill out a PGY1 exemption form, which can be found on the natmatch website under "eligibility" (left side of the screen). Fill out this form with required information (same info that ASHP-accredited residencies have to complete) and send in. Once approved, you will receive a match number. Hope this helps! Good luck!

This is not exactly the same. Most people who are in a PGY1 residency would only have <1 yr of practice experience as a pharmacist and not 3yrs as needed for the wavier.

what if one starts a non-accredited residency, and some years later it becomes accredited?
