PGY-1 for Neurology

For the PGY-1 year, what is the best option: preliminary IM, transitional year, others? Does it really matter where (community, university-affiliated, university)? Is name a big issue (i.e. for fellowships down the road)? Thanks!

I would do a search, as I know this has been covered in previous years.

Everything is a trade-off. I don't think anyone is going to deny you fellowship because of where you did your intern year. I don't think anyone even asked me where I did mine.

Some people try to get the easiest internship they can, so they don't have to work too hard. Some people feel that medicine is really important, and try to get a great and immersive intern experience. You get to decide which one you want.
